SKEPTICISM GONE! GREAT T.V.

mother112 February 18, 2014

I was sketical about ordering this television AT FIRST! I thought for $399.00 it's worth a try. I got the T.V within three days I ordered it to deliver to the store to try to prevent any damage. I picked it and everything was OK. I got the TV home and couldn't fiqure out how to put the stand on so the setup took about a hour. I finally got it all set up and it shows perfectly. I stream movies using my playstation from both Netflix and Redbox and they show great. I hooked an $10.00 antenna up to it and got about 3 stations(I don't have cable) and it showed perfect. I decided heck I'll get some basic cable and view at least 10 channels. I love this TV. Great buy for the money. If I would have known before I purchased just the TV I would've ordered it in the bundle it comes with a Roku stick. I have no issue at all with the sound. If you're looking for a nice size television to stream movies and just watch television it definately a good buy.

Excellant value

rpf1 March 9, 2014

I was a bit reluctant due to some reviews but decided to go forward and purchase this TV because of the price. I mean this is a hundred bucks or so cheaper that the closest priced tv. The TV arrived at the house in 2 days. Set up was easy and the quality appears excellent. The sound is a bit fuzzy but I think most flat screens are due to position and directions of speakers. I will ad a sound bar to correct that. In all I am very happy with my purchase.

Great TV

Auctioneer1957 January 8, 2014

Ordering was easy. Pick up was easy. Setup was normal if you've ever set one up before. Menu was normal setup for time, date, etc. Sound and Picture are in my opinion Great. Didn't have to adjust picture. Had to set sound from normal to stereo. This was an easy adjust through the menu. We mounted our TV on the wall. It's an LED so it's much lighter than our old LCD TV. Very easy to mount because of it's weight. It's weight is just over 65 pounds with the packing and box. 50 inch LED weighs less than 42 inch LCD, wow. I was surprised. I checked manufacturer site and the MSR is $999.99. Big savings with Wal-Mart.

A Win for the Little Guy!

FutureSelf July 9, 2016

You like deals? Well,It's tough to beat this one. This is a great 50 inch tv for under $300. Works perfectly, my Dish, Blue-Ray and Xbox one all look amazing and again... It's a 50 inch TV for under $300!! However, you're gonna want to get a sound bar or hook it up to speakers because the TV speakers sound pukey (like most flat screens). Plus, the remote looks and feels super cheap. Thankfully I was able to have my Dish remote control this tv so I don't have to see or touch the old one again. Overall, 4 star TV with a 5 star value!

Exceeded my expectations

Anonymous January 27, 2014

I read a number of customer reviews which helped me purchase this tv. While it is true that the sound might not please everyone (it was better, although tinny, after I undid the surround sound feature which gave a muffled audio), I am totally happy with the other features of this tv. I checked Amazon (they were showing this for over $600 on their site) for more customer comments. A video on Youtube which showed unpacking and setting up this tv was very useful, especially when it came to attaching the stand to the tv (hint - use the packing material to prop up the tv on all four corners). Since I have no cable and only an indoor $10 antenna the only drawback for me is that one can only add channels automatically and cannot manually add one or two channels after adjusting the 'rabbit ears'. When you run the automatic channel finder it will erase all channels that do not come in on the new adjustment to the antenna. Hopefully it was last as long as my old projector tv did!

Just what I wanted

Bobblesworth January 23, 2014

I bought this for gaming in my living room. I do mostly PC gaming so it was important that the TV could keep up. So far it does. I had to mess about a bit with my video card resolution settings. Using HDMI the NVIDIA control will accept it as a PC monitor up to 1680x1050 resolution, or as an HD Monitor at the 1080P, 1920x1080. Using it as an HD Monitor takes a bit of mucking about with some settings, but looks amazing when it's all set! As for the speaker.. you can forget it. Even a decent pair of earbuds would sound better (tested it!). If you're going with something like a sound bar or wireless gaming headset like I do, keep in mind that the TV does NOT have connections for digital optical. but it DOES have digital Coax, and of course, HDMI or standard 3.5mm analog. Also, it can mount flush against a wall without worrying about losing access to input/output connections. All in all, if it lasts at least decade I would say it's more than a great deal.

Works Great!

Gowidow December 28, 2013

I didn't realize how BIG 50" was, but thankfully, it fit on top my entertainment center. My neighbor put it together and set it up with the Chromecast USB I bought and now it's a "Smart TV" that picks up selected sites from my computer. I do not have HD, but the DVDs I play look good. I'm pleased, so far, with this TV.

Perfect for your budget

Bike51 February 9, 2014

We had never heard of Sceptre television before. But the price was perfect for out budget. After doing some searching, I found that the components were Sony. After getting the box opened, we were pleasantly suprised as to how light it was, compared to our older one of 87lbs. Hooking it up was a snap, and all the hookups it has was a plus! USB's for your computer, games you name it! We paired it with a wall/swivel mount unit, and that was very easy. Trying to get the picture and color to our liking takes a little time. The sound is a little tinny, but not overly bad. We purchased the sound bar just in case but haven't had to hook that up. If you are looking for a TV, and are short on cash, this is the one! The reason for 4 stars....nothing is perfect.

Broken TV

lrgdog August 3, 2014

l always have extremly good luck with anything that I purchase from Walmart or it's affiliates. In this case I didn't pay attention to the 2 inch hole punched in the upper part of the shipping container (cardboard) removed it from the box, checked to make sure everything was with the unit and it was. Prior to my receiving the new TV I had ordered from Walmart, a wall mount, it's great and exactly what I wanted. Hung the TV on the wall mount, hooked evrything up turned it on and all I got were some real strange lines going every which way. I have 3 wall mounted TV's from WalMart and I couldn't be happier and satisfied with the other TV's I have set many of these TV's up and programed them with ease ... couldn't do it with this one, called my son Inlaw and he stood next to it and told me it had a multiude of hairline cracks and a puncture in the upper screen which appeared to be a shadow to me at the time. The punture coincided with the hole in the box. I know Walmart will make this good, they stand behind all thier merchandise/ The moral of this is do what they tell you to do and inspect packages for exterior damage and throughly inspect the merchandise when you remove it from it's container

Biggest Cow Dung on the Market

BarthJa November 14, 2016

Just so that I am clear. I ordered this thinking great Ill disregard the other folks saying they received a broken TV and just say that this was a freak chance. i ordered the TV waited 10 days for it, scheduled and event around it, I received the box via UPS. I unboxed the item put the little stand on it and set it up and powered it up and.... Presto..The screen was broken. Just like others were in the reviews. Needless to say this is not worth it, don't do it, don't do it. You may be very well disappointed Now to Walmart's credit I took it to my local store and they were awesome, they gave me credit back "IMMEDIATELY" and they had a SANYO 50" on the floor to replace this one which cost me $21 more. I got it how and have been thrilled. Don't go with the SCEPTRE (call it the DE-SCEPTRE)
