Great needles for both sewing machine & serger
Best price out there on Schmetz top stitch needles that are often hard to find in stores. I use them successfully on both my Brother sewing machine and my brother Serger. I appreciate the large eye which makes threading doable for my farsighted eyes!

Good for specific threads and uses
I tried this needle which was recommended for use with trilobal polyester decorative thread. It has larger eye for fat decorative threads like this. It worked well with the thread but the needle was too thick for quilting through Warm & Natural cotton batting. It punched such a large hole that the batting was poked through leaving ugly white nubs on the back of the quilt. I went back to using a Schmetz Microtex 70/10 needle and the problem was greatly reduced. I have since read online that the Warm & Natural cotton batting does this more than polyester battings do. I'm sure it is a fine needle, but not optimal in this instance.
