It helps maintain your battery life along with providing a charge. The clamps are spark resistant and have a wide opening. They're not your typical big clamps, however, being on the smaller side it makes it easier for hard to reach battery terminals. It's compatible with lawn mowers, quads and dirt bikes, jet skis, boats, cars and trucks. It's water resistant along with the quick clamp connection. I do wish the cord that plugs into the wall was longer. I needed to use an extension cord for it to reach my car battery and I park in the garage which isn't far from our deep freezer outlet. Overall, a great handy tool to always have on hand for battery maintenance.

It has a hook that I can use to hang it up with so I can clearly see the charger Maintener, repair mode, and the service mode. It's compact and easy to store when I am not using it. The service mode is a nice touch when he need stable voltage during electrical work, and the repair mode has actually brought a couple "dead" batteries back from the brink instead of me telling customers to buy new ones. Clamps switch to ring terminals fast, which saves time when he's got cars stacked up. Case has held up fine getting splashed and dirty all day. Solid tool for anyone dealing with batteries regularly, not just a garage toy.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this charger and maintainer, and just in time as my second car's battery had died from sitting in the garage a bit too long without being driven. I used this on a newer (8/2024) battery. I removed a star because I found this didn't work well in a “jump” scenario. I tried leaving the charger connected overnight and my ignition still wouldn't turn. I had to use a separate device to jump my completely depleted battery and drive my car around for a bit. However, once I did that, I reconnected the maintainer and it charged the rest of the battery. In any case, I am super happy to have the maintainer so I don't have to worry about this car's battery while it sits in my garage.

We love that it is water resistant and the setup was easy to understand and the instructions were simple. We will definitely be using this for years to come.

I'm not too sure why the battery clips plug onto the charger unless there are optional connectors for more permanent installations, though it seems a little bulky for that. The indicator lights and modes on the charger are clear, though I'm not sure if the "mode" really changes the way it charges. I have always had problems getting my utv started, so I tried it there, but after being on the charger for 3 days, it still won't start. If I use my large shop charger it runs fine. I plan to connect this to my generator in hopes that it will maintain the starting battery in case of a power outage.
