Love the paddle shifter.
We looked at bikes for our 12-year-old for weeks. We went back-and-forth between a BMX style bike and a mountain bike style bike. He rides his bike with his buddies and they all have mountain bikes so we went with that. We didn't want too many gears as he is a beginner and we found a great mix of BMX and mountain bike with the beginner shift on the fly paddle shifter on the handlebars this has been a great bite for our 12-year-old son.

Great bike, after extra expense
Assembly was easy but i had to immediately bring it bike shop and pay for assessment and repairs. The disc for the front wheel break was slightly bent so they had to staighten it so that it would properly align in breaking mechanism. And the override backet for the gears at back wheel was bent and had to be bent back. I called schwinn about disc issue and they were able to send a replacement part for free which I now have on hand as a spare since shop was able to strighten the original. My 8yo daughter absolutely loves the bike and is quickly learning how to use bike gears for the first time.

Great overall kids mountain bike
Let me start by saying it's great overall. Internal cable routing, disc brakes, suspension fork, and trigger shifting. Only downfalls are requiring a $60 tune-up but still worth it.

The front wheel with brake disc is very difficult to put in and manual does not have clear instructions to do.
