I had this bike professionally assembled at a bike shop; it was 100% perfect right out of the gate. The bike is smooth, rugged and with my upgraded seat and end bars, it's even better. I am 6' 220, and this bike could accommodate 6' 4" 240 as it's a 29-inch super-duty frame. If you are heavier than 240 and have not ridden in a while, this is not your bike. I ride this on Cape Cod trails, and it rides very smooth; on my occasional bump or off-road detour, it's tough enough for sure. I added a Seat, Endbars, Mirror, Solar GPS, dual water bottle carriers, and a bike horn. All totaled, I have $620.00 invested, and it's literally perfect.
I very much enjoyed it was shipped and packaged properly. No parts seem to be missing or damaged. My order came through exactly as I had ordered it color item etc. It was shipped in a timely manner.
Great bike for a great price. A few upgrades and this becomes a serious trail machine. It arrived quickly and without defects. Quick and easy assembly.
I wanted a bike to try 29" wheels on local mountain bike trails, without dropping $700. The Santis with an Ebates rebate was shipped to my house, tax included, for under $200. Looking at WTB tires and wheels, Tourney TX, and hydraulic brakes, it is a great deal. The box came, no damage, easy to assemble. The front derailleur needed adjustment and tires needed air. The bike rides smooth. The two downsides of this bike are the front fork and the crankset. The fork is clunky with limited travel, but the manufacturer is clear that this is not for offroad. I plan to use it as my trial trail bike for a year, without any upgrades. Then decide if I want to buy a more expensive 29er.
This the perfect bike for the price....just purchase this bike 2wks ago ..... only thing is you have to assemble the bike yourself.....i would recommend a bike shop. The gears and everything on this bike work very well.....very smooth and fast ride.....NICE BIKE FOR THE MONEY....
First off dont believe for a secondvthst this bike has a lifetime warranty. I broke an axle, deurailler and bent the crank so i raached putvto the warranty people and they didnt respond for weeks. Then when i did get someone they give you no answers. The front suspension is awful so plan on upgrading that quickly to something functional. Brakes are great handling good. Serms to gave lower yo the ground cranks than desired but for the price its pretty good just font expext schwinn to honor any warranty
It seemd like a good bike, just not sure it if was assembled correctly. The freewheel hub wasn't spinning freely, took the bike out on two test road trips around the block. The bike rode great, it would have been a great cheap <$350 starting chasis to upgrade to a trail bike. Not sure if the freewheel was defective or just not greased properly (poorly asembled). I took it back to get a full refund. Can't beat Walmarts return policy.
Just a Chinese bike with a good old American name. The frame construction is above average. The Shimano gear set, shifters, derailleur, etc are Shimano Tourney, about $19 on Amazon for the rear derailleur so basic, basic, basic. The price for the bike compared to the Amazon listing is a great value. Very easy to complete the bike right out of the shipping box. The bike came with a warped rear disc brake which failed after about twenty rides. Schwinn sent a replacement disc but you must supply the expertise and labor. The chain is a cheap chain without spring links so you must break the chain which means you need to purchase specific tools. The instruction book is generic and does not cover fork construction or maintenance. We need a YouTube channel specifically for Schwinn bikes but that would go probably for all Chinese bikes. Schwinn customer service will provide specific information on your bike (don't bother to look in your owner's manual) for great set and other specifics but you must provide the data off the Pacific Bicycle build tag so you better keep a photo of that tag. The tag is near the Schwinn lifetime warranty tag which will leave you feeling a little abused.
One year of having this bike and I have replaced the crankshaft bearings plus the crankshaft 3 times ready for the fourth. Total ride time has been around 1500 miles, all paved roads. The bearing lock ring loosens after about 5 miles into every ride which if I don't stop and tighten leads to quicker failure. After about 100 miles the bearings are needing tightened. The warranty has covered the cost for the parts but I've had enough. My feeling is that the machining of the crankshaft cylinder is not true which leads to failure. Would not recommend this bike.
The bike is great. However the crank stripped out six days and owning the bike. My son was very disappointed. For just under $400 I would spend another hundred and buy a Trek.
