ScienceWiz Cells Under a Microscope Kit

Got this for my 8 year old daughter. We used it with an i-phone on selfie mode. She had to line up the two lenses to make it work. She got the hang of it pretty quickly. Without the light she didn't see much of anything. Once she turned on the light, it worked just fine. The onion skin has to be a single thin layer. I did that part for her because she doesnt like the onion smell. She used the dropper to put on the stain. We used iodine. It took about 5 minutes for it to work. After that we could see the onion cells with their nuclei very clearly. Her older brother had a box of pre-made slides he let her try. The clamps on the microscope were a bit stiff but my daughter pushed them aside so she could quickly view one slide after another. At that point it became an amazing experience that we could all share together we were looking at the same slide at the same time on the same screen.

The microscope is a small piece of cheap plastic that in no way gives a clear image. The way it is designed it is guaranteed to scratch your cell phone's camera. Even the magnifying glass was warped plastic that makes everything distorted. Awful product and would warn others not to buy.
