Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics Complete Collection

1977 was an awesome year for cartoons, like this great set: the Complete Collection (all 24 episodes on 3 Blu-ray Discs) of Scooby's All-Star Laff-A-Lympics. I'm not positive, but it looks like this is the first complete set (at least in 1080p) that's been available. Previous DVD releases don't look like they had all the episodes. In any case, this collection has it all, in even sharper def than when I first watched in 1977. Riding the wave of 1976's real-life epic Montreal Olympic Games (the ones that brought us Bruce Jenner on the Wheaties box), came Hanna-Barbera's Laff-A-Lympics, posing loads of classic HB characters against each other in good natured contests. It was basically the classic characters ('60s, like Yogi Bear and Huckleberry Hound versus '70s, like Scooby and Speed Buggy versus the "Really Rottens" with Mumbly and my favorite, Sooey the Pig). Like in real life, some "actors" couldn't compete due to contractual obligations and had to be "replaced" with look-alikes. Even as a kid I wished they used the real bad guys, like Dick Dastardly and the actual Gruesomes. Happily, all the characters were voiced by the original voice actors, making for a satisfying show as a kid. One of the best aspects of this show was how the location changed every episode, so you got to see major cities all over the world. Amazing!
