A little bit more pricey for this caliber phone holder, but worth it. The magnet is very strong and the spreaders that go into the vent do not easily let go, which keeps the phone in place. No more hunting around the floor board looking for a dropped phone.

The Scosche mounting system safely and effectively keeps your phone or other device conveniently in front of you for hands-free talking or other tasks. The mount itself grips the vent slats tightly enough to stay put even on bumpy roads, but can be detached easily when necessary. The company even designed the mount to accommodate different thicknesses of slats, which I think is a thoughtful touch. When not in use the mount is quite unobtrusive and blends into the background well. The magnet is strong enough to keep your device very secure, but not so strong that it's a struggle to free it from the mount. It comes with two different sized thin metal strips to apply to your devices by peeling off a backing which covers adhesive. But that is only one of the possible methods of use. On one of my small phones I used the smaller of the two metal strips, which I inserted into the battery compartment. On my heavier IPhone I put the larger strip sandwiched between the phone and the protective plastic case I keep it in . No adhesive was needed at all. I liked that because I really did not want to stick anything on my phone. In both applications the mount worked perfectly. Firm enough to hold it, but still able to release without a fight. Possible cons: If I had a tablet I would need some more information before I bought this item. It says in the product description that it's OK to use with a tablet. But it also says you should not use it with a device that has a hard drive. Don't tablets have hard drives ? Also, I do wonder if it's good to keep your electronic device directly in the path of very hot air when the heat is on, and 42 degree air when the AC is on. I might worry too much, but I'm keeping the vent closed right behind my mounted phone, just in case. All in all I really like this product a lot and my neighbors who saw it bought their own. Two thumbs up !

~ Easy to install ~doesn't block vision ~discreet vs.having it laying out on dash. ~magnet is relatively strong but a little unreliable on bumpy terrain. ~phone is easy to grab if needed. ~wireless charging is out of the question due to the metal plate that must be installed. ~If you adhere the metal plate to the case instead of the phone itself then you have this case forever and ever...... Still with all its faults I am glad I chose this model.

I have really enjoyed getting a chance to use this phone mount in my new car. There's a right behind my steering wheel that has been a perfect place to set my phone when I'm in the car. I did have to take the Phone grip off my case, but that's a small price to pay to have this kind of functionality when I'm driving. I like this mount and imagine it will work perfectly in any vehicle I need it in.

Unless your phone is the size of a thumb drive, is isn't even strong enough to hold its self up

You'll have to apply a metal plate to the back of your phone or case in order to work. Do not mistake this as a MagSafe type product.

You have to attach a metallic piece to your phone using an adhesive. It's not truly MagSafe compatible.

Very vague, directions not specific. The magnet is very strong however, the holder itself is not very stable and moves around.
