This is a excellent packaging tape that works awesome in lots of case sealing applications. We use this product for a wide range of applications at our company. It is consistent, easy to use, and works well. I read a few reviews and I couldn't help but comment. It sounds like people leaving comments aren't using a proper hand tape dispenser which is why they are having problems. Also, this product is designed to be used with corrugated boxes and sometimes I think people try to use it on other substrates it is not designed to stick to or for applications where they may need to go with a thicker mil tape. This isn't duct tape, it is a general duty pressure sensitive box sealing tape. The key work there is pressure. You need to either apply pressure using the proper applicator or your hand. If you are using the right applicator with the materials it is designed to work with this is a terrific performing product. If you are going to use this at home for a small project buy a hand tape dispenser, that is true for any industrial pressure sensitive box sealing tape. Used correctly for the right application you can't go wrong and if you are shipping heavier boxes or if you have a different substrate or highly recycled boxes consider 371+, 373, or some of the acrylic options. 3M is always happy to help learn about your application and give you appropriate options so don't be shy to contact them or a local distributor. They are great to work with for any tape related application.
It used to be a good tape. Now it just sucks! Hard to get off the roll but after that it doesn't stick very well. It always breaks when applying. The tape appears to be too thin because when it breaks you can never find the end. Too thin!!!! Breaks several times in one application.
It takes excessive force to begin pulling tape off the roll. Sometimes it springs back after stretching and we have to re-feed it into the 3m hand machine. Sometimes it breaks off. Taping a box should be quick and easy. With this tape it is slow to point where I want to toss the remaining 20 rolls in the trash. I have cut my finger a few times on the machine due to this tape not feeding properly. 3M, did you change the formula? This tape used to have an acetone smell, now nothing.
As other reviewers mentioned, this tape seems very thin and is hard to get off the roll. It repeatedly broke and was difficult to find the end of the tape to peel off the roll. It isn't very sticky and seems no better than the worst generic tape I've every used.
