Did the job perfectly
I purchase this tape weekly to layer padding on my Mom's bed. It is a very reliable adhesive.
The tape sometimes split and didnt peel off smoothly
It is bad in many ways. The plastic packaging wraps the tape sticks to the sides so it's impossible to get it off completely. Also the rips while you are trying to get a piece off that is long enough. It's also very thin. overall I am highly disappointed.
After putting up with what you all call slivering for quite a while, I thought I would let you know about it. However, it looks like you already do. I will have to make a note of this particular product so I don't buy it again. It behaves like very cheap masking tape, or very old, dried out tape, and it is neither. Not what I expected from this brand.
It didn't seal the paint off
I just bought this from Walmart. I'm surprised of the poor quality. It will not stick to anything. I want to cover the corner of something and it won't do that. I can't even use it to hold a piece of paper together because it will not stick to the paper. It falls right off. It reminds me of poorly made nonstick tape. Doesn't even stick to my finger. Does not stick to itself. I'm upset because I went for the name brand Scotch because I remember it being good masking tape. I usually do well when I buy Scotch tapes.
I purchased this masking tape because I needed to quickly finish a project that I was working on. I chose the 3M brand because of their superior quality. However, they missed the mark with this tape. I couldn't even get a 6 inch piece off of this roll because it kept slivering. After several minutes of trying to get a normal piece of tape from the roll, I gave up out of complete frustration.
For years I bought generic masking tape & was frustrated with it slivering. So I bought a roll of the "good stuff" (this Scotch 2025). I'm very disappointed - it slivers just as badly as the cheap stuff. And it's very hard to get re-started when it slivers. I'm guessing that it's just too thin and I'm going to search for thicker tape.
For ten years or more I have bought 3M masking tape instead of cheaper "generic" brands. (We use it to remove pet hair from clothing and upholstery, and not for painting jobs.) This product has changed. It is now tissue-paper thin, tears and rips and slivers and you are unable to pull off even a 4 inch piece! Now it is as poor quality as the other cheap brands.
