Scotch Thermal Laminator Plus 2 Letter Size Pouches (TL902)

Received my Scotch laminator yesterday and I'm very impressed so far. Definitely worth spending the extra couple of dollars compared to the non-brand versions. It works great, feels sturdier, and gives much better results. Glad I chose quality over other options!

The lamination was pretty good. I was using 5 mil pouches and heavy card stock items. The only issue I experienced was figuring out how to unfold the feeder tray from its stowed position without breaking it. I'm not quite sure how I finally got it to unfold. Hoping it is easier the next time I use it.

I had this same laminator for years. Never had an issue with it until now. The roller stopped working. For the price, I figured it was easier and less time consuming to just purchase a new one, instead of, trying to figure out how to fix the roller.

I bought this laminator many years ago when I started teaching. I've been teaching for fifteen years now, and just got my second one because the first started to give out. I think that's a pretty long life, though! It laminates well, heats up fairly quickly, and is easy to use and store.

This laminate machine works exceptionally well. I bought it to make worksheets for my grandchild. Print them off and then laminate and she can use dry erase markers to practice. I have laminated all sorts of things beyond that. Excellent value. I would highly recommend I am not sure how I have lived without this.

Unlike most bargain laminators this one works. It takes longer to heat up, swallows the sheets slower and then it gives you a stiff, flat laminated sheet that is secure and not dog eared. The rear tray that folds is a bit cheap and eventually needs the support of a book under it to hold it in the right place. Our last one lasted a decade before the cord frayed out and shorted the unit. We tried a few others and eventually just bought the one we had in the first place. It is as good as any heavy laminating household needs.

This is the second of these laminators we bought in the last 5 months. Both went out the same way by "eating" something we were trying to laminate. (it curls up inside the machine, ruining both the paper and the machine). The first time I thought I'd just done something wrong. Now I think the machine is at fault. It also had an issue where a wire inside blocked papers from entering and I had to hold it down with a bamboo skewer. Now I have a distraught 9 year old who lost a very special picture she wanted to protect and no laminator.

I purchased this in August, and the paper tray has already broken and will not stay up. As a result, laminated paper will not feed properly unless the tray is manually held in place, making the machine difficult to use. This is not acceptable for a product that is only a few months old. Don't waste your money.

Well when I read the directions a lot of warnings it could go on fire. So I searched to see if there were problems and found this article. So I promptly took it back. It was not worth the risk to me. Scotch does make manual laminating pouches. Its a bit tough getting them exact but much safer. I have a friend who has a laminator and never has had a problem with it, not sure what brand. So do your home work before investing in a laminator or use one of the office supply stores. This laminator was disappointing from the very first use. It was difficult to load and frequently wrinkled and jammed the pouches while feeding. The loading tray broke about 30 days after initial use, and the machine takes a long time to heat up. Although the price is economical, the poor performance and durability make it not worth the purchase. Would not purchase again.
