this is a bit brighter green then tall fescue, good value for the money, I used on my backyard and used tall fescue on my front.

As you can see from the photos of before and after there is a lot of new growth. In the first photo I show you how to open the bag instead of cutting it. Cutting the string and pull it so it comes off. I used hand held feeder to distribute the seeds evenly over my dead patches and also over the whole of the lawn. I watered twice a day for a week then back to every 2 days. As you can see from the last two photos the whole lawn looks so green and full. I great product for Southern California with the drought tolerant grass.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recommend purchasing this Brand Scott's Kentucky 31 grass seed mix for any lawns that have bare spots and doesn't grow much grass! This helps grow thicker and greener grass. I have used this same product for years and it never fails me. I use it cause I have bare spots in my front yard from where my dogs are and it helps every year with growing grass in those bare areas. I like that it's heat and drought intolerant. It always starts working for me within 4 days. I always water after putting it down everyday until I see grass growing. It does help to water it. This is a big bag so I dont always use all of it at once. If your using it for new lawn it covers up to 1 665 sq ft and if using it to overseed coverage is 5,000 sq ft. I use a spreader to spread it on my lawn. It works great and the grass is always thick and nice looking!

It was a huge bag for a great price! It seems to be a very versatile seed mix and grows in many different zones and sun varieties. I’ll update as we progress!

This Kentucky 31 is great for over seeding, which as a new development, we are still overseeding as part of our yearly spring lawn care. I find this type of grass to be relatively soft and grows well. It doesn’t grow too fast like some other varieties, making it good for a weekly mowing schedule.

It spread super easily, the growth was not only noticeable, but quicker than I expected, and the new grass was thick, healthy, and strong. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used a grass seed after Plumbers dug up my front yard and left bear soil behind over the winter. We added fresh topsoil and then sprinkled the Scott's Kentucky 31 grass seed mix. As the photos show, we were able to get grass growing again very successfully. Overall, the process was pretty easy and straightforward, and I am pleased with the result. I do think I used a bit too much straw in some areas which may have blocked some of the seeds from sprouting evenly, so there are a few thinner spots, but most of the yard filled in well. I plan to do a light re seeding this coming fall, using the same seat to improve coverage even more.

I have a few dead patches on my lawn that I wanted to take care of this year, so the Scott's Grass Seed Mix is the perfect answer. The instructions are clearly outlined on the package and even for a lawn novice like me, it is easy to follow the directions. I didn't have a spreader so I did it by hand, but hopefully it will be successful. Since I am only spot seeding, I have plenty leftover if I need to re-seed in the fall.
