Classic pulled pork sauce

anonymous March 24, 2025

Scott's is a great place to start if you want to know what a vinegar BBQ sauce is supposed to taste like, or just to remind yourself if it's been awhile when formulating your own homemade sauce. This sauce is such a classic, it's worth trying, for sure.

This is the taste of growing up in Eastern Carolina as a kid, a taste that's fading away for whole hog and pulled pork if you ever had it. I now can save on the trip to Goldsboro,NC with Walmart selling it here in Houston, TX.

perfect!

Gene November 13, 2020

made homemade pulled pork and used this after I shredded the meat. let it rest a while, take that, BBQ house!! in my opinion, my product was better, more tender, and moist than most of the BBQ available in my area. this is not barbeque sauce like you would think. if you're expecting Kraft or sweet baby ray's, this ain't for you. this is that good vinegar based sauce used to enhance pulled pork or chopped BBQ for making sammiches!!

Authentic North Carolina Down East barbecue sauce!

Allen August 29, 2021

If you want REAL Down East Carolina barbecue sauce, it doesnt get much more authentic than Scotts. Its a little spicy, and unlike sugary, thick sauces, its pretty watery, designed to be a mop sauce as well as a finishing sauce on chopped pork/chicken. Some people wont like the hot sauce/vinegar base, but I think its addictive, even as the heat starts to slowly increase. Also great on hush puppies, cornbread, pinto beans, collard greens, and even as a Cole slaw finisher.

The best Barbecue Sauce for flavor and tenderness

Sydney August 24, 2020

This has been a family favorite of ours for years. Its the perfect eastern NC BBQ sauce. It has the right amount of spices, vinegar and heat. Use this to baste pork or marinate and baste chicken (pour on back of chicken in rib area to let it pool) on the grill. My goodness, it will make all your neighbors hungry from the aroma.

Scott's the best BB Q sauce I have ever used. I lived in North Carolina with the Air Force and ate at their restaurant. No other sauce have matched up to this taste. It's tangy salt vinegar taste is one that make my mouth water for more.

A taste of Eastern North Carolina

BenNY February 18, 2023

This vinegary, peppery flavored sauce is synonymous with pork bbq served in the eastern counties of North Carolina. It also can be used to make eggcellent pickled eggs!

Good flavor and heat

Jojo July 17, 2025

This bottle is packed with flavor and a good heat profile. The only poke I have against it is it is a loose sauce, almost watery. The flavor is there but it is a terrible dipping sauce. The best use for this I have found is to marinate with it. The heat builds itself in your meat and cook/smoke it for optimum taste.

THE CONSISTENCY IS LIKE WATER. SNO SPICY AT ALL. IT TASTES LIKE VINEGAR AND SALT, NO BBQ FLAVOR JUST VINEGAR!
