SCRIB3D Junior 3D Printer Pen, Child Safe with Free Refills, Multicolor

My son and I tried out the 3D pen together and it was pretty cool to use. It is easy to set up, just sticking the reel of material through the back and controlling it with the button to start, stop and reverse it. It takes a little getting used to it with the speed and everything. The pen comes with a couple different activities to try. My son did one of them to try it out and then he made his own little champion belt for his wrestling action figures. I was impressed with how long the spools last as well. After making two little creations it looks like he used none at all. It is fun and I like how it makes my child use his imagination and be creative. It’s fun to see what he creates. I’d like to get some more colors for him to use as well. I’m sure he’ll be able to make some pretty cool things as he gets the hang of it more with more practice.

As a family we've purchased a few 3D pens over the year. This one did not disappoint. Most importantly, my son loves it, and I have to confess I "borrowed" it to doodle a mini me. The pen is easy to use, cool looking, and has great instructions and stencils includes. On the more geeky side, such great packaging, and a really enjoyable unboxing experience. From an economic point of view, well worth the money, and I am so glad that there is now a new kid-safe 3D pen in the market at an even more reasonable cost. Recommendation: buy!

This 3d printing pen is so much fun! You can create so many things it just doesn’t get old. It charges quickly and easily. I wish it came with some more colors but it does come with 3. And they seem to last a while.. we’ve been using it for a couple weeks and haven’t ran out yet! Would definitely recommend.

The kit comes with three colors- orange, white, and black- additional colors can be purchased. Only a few buttons which makes it easy to understand and use. For making larger projects, you may want to invest in more colors, but as an intro set, this was a great starting kit!

It was very simple, he was able to read all the instructions on his own and figure out the product. I think this is a great product for kids of all ages because they can all create different 3D images that match their creative style and age group.

I received product reimbursement in exchange for my honest review. I bought the PiKA3D Junior 3D Printing Pen for Kids for $34.99. I tried using this first before my 9 and 12 year old boys tried it. I really liked it, but it definitely takes a lot of practice and hand control. I tried making the dragon following the directions, but I had trouble placing the legs/feet since there was only one body so it wasn't 3D. I made another body and then used a pencil to form the circular curvature of the body. The 3D dragon looks really cool. I wish the box came with one or two more colors like blue and red. The extra filament is $14.99 for (10) 3m Spools of PiKA3D Junior Plastic. Colors include Black, Grey, White, Pink, Yellow, Orange, Red, Blue, Green, and Mint. The pen never gets hot and the filament dries quickly. It took some time to learn how to start and stop the filament without it leaving random strands. Obviously, this would be nice with settings to control the speed, but I'm sure that's included with the more expensive sets. It takes about 30 minutes to charge, but it doesn't hold a charge for a long time. I can't find anything on the box or website that says how long the charge should last. The box says it's for 6-13 year olds. My boys tried using it, but they didn't like it at all. The pen was bulky and they couldn't figure out the best way to hold it. However, they don't have the best fine motor skills so that didn't help. I think it's a pretty neat 3D pen for beginners. It's really unique so it might not be great for all kids, but those who like art and using their imagination will probably enjoy it.

I love displaying what they come up with it in my house. I don’t have to worry much about them hurting themselves with this because it’s pretty simple to use and operate. I also think the price is very reasonable for a 3D creating product. I have not looked into the price of the refills yet.

It was easy for my 10 year old to use. It does require some patience as the plastic heats up and comes out of the pen. The plastic gardens very quickly, so there's not much wait time for it to harden or cool down. Considering the price, this is a fun novelty toy. Obviously it isn't going to perform as well as a real 3D pen that costs hundreds of dollars. It actually exceeded my expectations. The box says ages 6-13. I could see a 6 year old operating the pen with supervision, but the process of drawing out the design and filling it in is time consuming and can be a little tricky. I think this is a really neat activity for kids who like creative toys or crafts.
