Sculpey Air Dry Modeling Clay 2.2 lbs White

first time using this clay. My project was to shape sculpting a replace piece- patch for an outdoor yard ornament. I was able to what I wanted with this clay. I let it dry, painted and water proofed sealed. Time will tell if it holds up. Be sure to have an airtight container to store clay not used. I have plenty left, can let my grandchildren create a treasure.

My daughter customizes dolls and she sometimes uses this clay to add things like tails, ears and other elements to her creations. She likes that it is an air dry clay, so there is no oven time necessary. Every so often she'll leave something on the kitchen table to dry and from what I've observed, this clay dries well. It can be sanded, drilled, carved and painted. I think it's a good addition to an art supply box and it would be good for someone just getting into sculpting to practice with.

It's easy to shape, smooth, and sculpt, even for molding with small hands, which made holiday projects quick and fun. No baking required, so projects came together fast and dried nicely overnight. Pro tip: store it airtight to prevent hardening between sessions. Great for quick ornaments and festive decor with a little paint or glitter after it dries.

this clay has a beautiful consistency. I'm 62 with lupus and bone spurs in both hands. that's a major factor in my life. it stays smooth and doesn't crack. you can get in really good detail with those conditions. 98% of the time and really unless it's not a silicone mold no problem with removal. just a couple times with a rigid plastic mold did I have to break out the corn starch. water blend in quickly to ensure smooth overall look.. I love this brand. I been buying it since the late 80's

I love doing clay crafts with this. This is always the clay I buy for my beginner friends. And I like that it dries quickly, but its easy to keep wet if you want to work on it for a long time.

It dries out quickly but other than that it's great. It kept it shape and dried really hard, leaving it easy to paint. I'd buy again.

Somewhat difficult to use for simple crafts. Once dry, it is very hard and seems strong. Not easy to press handprints into but I imagine it would do well for modeling/sculpting.

This was my first time using Sculpey. Immediately, I was struck my how dense and grainy it feels in your hands as you work it. Pro: It retains its bright white color, which I really liked. Con: It's essentially unusable because of how badly it cracks during drying. This happens regardless of how smooth or detailed your molded piece is, or how thick/thin. The shrinkage and cracking is consistent. (It's worth mentioning that I ultimately brushed my silicon molds with either cornstarch or mineral oil, after the clay proved difficult to remove from them. At the very least, mineral oil should have slowed the drying time somewhat to further prevent such cracking.) After working for hours yesterday to first condition the clay, then mold trim and embellishment pieces with it, I'm crushed this morning to see how they've dried. Am trying to patch the defects with tiny pieces of the clay, but my project (which was more than half done %26 intended to be a Christmas gift) may be unsalvageable.

The texture of a clay is very sandy feeling and it dries too quick. Not recommended for oven baking. Also, when it dries, it is still soft.
