outstanding caviar

therica April 27, 2017

Recommended for anyone who enjoys caviar or for first-timers who want to start off with a less-potent version. Curious newbies might consider this Roland's Black Capelin caviar, it's less potent and also several $ less expensive than their Roland Red Lumpfish caviar which is really fishy, salty and potent, for example. This Black Capelin very clean and is great on crackers (recommend the Bremner Wafer type or crispy soda crackers). Add a small smear of cream cheese (sour cream isn't bad either) and half a demitasse spoon of caviar. There are all sorts of options. Drop a caper on top, or lightly sprinkle some chili powder, for example. In Japanese cuisine they are sometimes mixed with wasabi paste for a really zippy version. Capelin are small smelt fish. Their eggs (roe) are known as Masago in Japanese cuisine. You can wiki 'capelin' to read more.

Great on Salmon

HotSpotRefugee August 13, 2020

It's the only satisfying substitute to butter that I've found to put on pink Salmon.. less calories, less fat, cool texture and crunch.. Probably goes great on other fish, too!

Awesome product

Daniel S December 28, 2018

I made quail egg salad with red and black caviar on a toasted baguette. Quail eggs and the caviar were all Roland brand.

Was real impressed with the flavor of this one....It's definitely not "mild".

Product has changed - not the same as description

KA June 3, 2021

Just as an FYI, as of the end of May 2021, the product that you get if you order this online, is not Season Black Capelin Caviar. Instead, it is Season Caviart - Black Seaweed Pearls (plant-based caviar). They don't seem to actually have the real capelin caviar anymore at Walmart. I did get a refund, not sure when or if they will change the description on this item. I had tried Caviart last year during the holidays

Completely honest %26 100% aggrieved!

Robert August 10, 2023

NO ONE seems to KNOW - less CARE - about what is actually ORDERED! I ORDER ICELAND LUMPFISH ROE -- YOU send DENMARK SEAWEED 'pearls'. NOT THE SAME! Good - but NOT WHAT I ORDERED! Kinda like ordering a luscious fat Porterhous at a famous steakhouse - and getting a plate full of SOYCAKE!

Walmart will send you SEAWEED!!!

Helen June 14, 2021

If you are looking for caviar, do not place order online!!! What I received are CAVIART, made from SEAWEED!!! And I placed three orders, because each order only allows 3-4 jars!!! So, Walmart not going to send you caviar, but SEAWEED!!! Disappoint!!!

Not Good Caviar

Garen September 7, 2020

It tastes OK but honestly this isn't good caviar. This is the tiny orange fish eggs you see on sushi but loaded with black food coloring. Would've preferred it without all that black dye.

Opened

Oregon2017 May 14, 2021

I ordered 2 jars and they both came opened and unsealed. Since this is refrigerate after opening and use within 3 days it was dangerous.
