Best one I've owned

MRK June 23, 2026

I highly recommend this four stroke tiller/cultivator. It's small and was bought for a cultivator but it was actually easy to break up new ground. My wife handles it easily too which is a plus. Cranks easily and is powerful. I've never owned a better one.

assembling wasnt to bad but a couple bolts and nuts were missing I had some on hand that worked well enough. Its definitely a go getter and works great in softer spoils. I was able to till up a grassy area easily. It starts easily the tines did get tied up quickly in a heavier soil with more clay and I needed to stop to clear out the weeds and clay that wrapped up in the tines. Trimming the area with a mower/weedeater first would have been a good idea. definitely a good value for the money.

Great cultivator for the money! Gladly recommend

This is my third cultivator and it is the best so far! At 30 pounds it is still light weight enough for a woman to use. It has a powerful engine, but is still controllable. I like the easy start mechanism. The choking system is excellent. The system for lifting up the wheels is very convenient.

Does exactly what I want, but will it last?

Robert June 21, 2025

Just received this cultivator yesterday, assembled it, and used it for the first time. Here are my thoughts: 1. Product arrived on time as predicted 2. The packaging seemed adequate to protect it from shipping damages. 3. It was pretty straight forward to assemble out of the box. I had one issue trying to figure out which way the middle handle assembly went. They can be installed on either end, but doing it the wrong way (which I did at first) results in the pieces being too close together at the top to install the top handle. 4. After assembly, my overall impression was that there was a lot of plastic! I doubt that this machine will last 35 years like my last tiller from sears did. But, on the flip side, I only paid $250 for this unit (not much in today's money). I hope to get 5-10 years of use. Time will tell. 5. Starting: Following instructions, I pumped the primer bubble 10x and applied the choke. I pulled the cord and it didn't start on the first pull. Pulled a several more times without starting. I then turned off the choke, and tried again. It started this time. With the wills down in the transport position, I moved it towards my garden. I will note here that I kept hanging the tines up on the ground while pushing it towards the garden. I had to really push it down to get it to clear the ground as I pushed. Pulling might have been easier. 6. tilling: My ground is a little hard with several small rocks and a few larger rocks (3” diameter). The feel of the tiller is more like a two stroke engine than what I'm accustomed to with a 4 stroke. This tiller uses a “trigger” throttle rather than a typical lever that you set at a single engine speed. I kind of like it as I used it but found myself wishing there was more trigger range between idle and full speed. At times, I wanted to run the tines slower by backing off on the trigger, but it was a little difficult to keep it a the lower level. The machine tore up the ground quickly. I note here that the machine throws dirt in every directly. Fortunately, the shield keeps it from hitting the operator, but it goes just about everywhere else! Slowing the engine speed minimizes this somewhat, but it still throws it. While tilling. Since there is no other drag bar, it is up to the operator to hold the machine back and dictate the speed of movement / depth of tilling. I compare it to walking a large dog which is always pulling on the leash. You have to hold the machine back to not let it get away from you. This is not hard for an adult, but I would definitely not allow a younger child to operate unless they are strong. The machine pulls pretty good and bounces when it hits a rock. Altogether, I like the machine and it looks to be exactly what I was looking for. Just hope it will last.

it is powerful. it's small so good for my needs. it is way too powerful for the weight of the tiller. desperately needs a drag bar. it's like having a large dog on a leash and it's pulling full force against you. and i have sand too so it's not like i had hard clay that the tiller was walking across. there's no way i would use this to till anywhere near established plants. I'm a fairly tall and strong person. it should not have required that much strength to control. it's also very hard to start. the rip cord catches and i actually pulled the entire tiller off the ground trying to start it. i got this on sale and i thought i was getting a deal based on reviews but I'm super disappointed.

Good Potential, But Not Recommended

Richard June 17, 2025

This is a surprisingly powerful machine for its size. So powerful, frankly, that it is tearing itself up. The frame tubing is too small for the machine and is bending. The blades dig well, but also entangle roots and vines so easily and tightly that it takes a lot of time to untangle the mess after a few short minutes of run time. The design of the handles is also wrong and puts way too much effort into the user's arms. This machine has a lot of potential, but design problems make it a poor choice for a working tool.

It was easy to assemble and when the machine was running it was great. The problem was with the pull start. First thing I noticed was the cord seemed too short. I shut it down for a bit, and when I went to restart the machine, the cord would not pull. I had to take the pull cord off to get it to go back in. The next time I started it, it ran well, but then I saw the cord handle on the ground. The cord had actually melted in spots and the handle fell off. I could not get it to restart. As I said before, when the machine was running it was great, but the pull cord made it so the machine could not be started. I gave this a two, because the machine seems like it is actually pretty good, except for the pull start. At least, that was my experience, and it may have been a one off.

Arrived new. Assembly easy enough. Followed all directions for starting. It would not start. Didn't act like it would start. Worked at it for hours. Returned the day I received it.

Followed all the directions and could not get it to stay on. Turned on then stalled. Unable to use. Dug it all by hand.
