I got these wonderfull headphones after searching for a worthy replacement of my first serious pair of Sennheisers, the vintage HD480 classic II from 1989. I still have them, and besides the replacement of earcushions, I really like how they sound -still- after almost 40 years! Back to the HD600: As a serious music lover and owner of a small project recording studio, I appreciate their transparant and balanced charmanter. I wanted a pair of headphones that translate the music honest and clear. And that's what they do. I can use these to mix on, albeit with some room correction plugin, but the main purpose is to listen to music. They are very comfortable, not too heavy and the build quality seems decent! I also like that they are made in Ireland, just like my HD480 classics. At first, I wasn't sure if open back headphones are something I would like: (majority of my other headphones are studiograde closed ones), but: the open back design makes them breath more, withouts sounding thin. Well done again, Sennheiser!
Mr Dankpods Lead me to these headphones and i never expected the georgous audio quality.
What more can be writtten about these headphones after 20+ years , incredibly detailed with great mid & vocals, I'm not a “bass head” so there is more than enough bass for me and I like the 3m cable length … definitely an upgrade on the B&O they have joined/replaced.
Let me explain. These have got to be the best headphones I have listened to yet. I have heard a good few like Bose, V-Moda, AKG, B&W. FiiO etc... But for realism and clarity; without colouration, nothing compares. If you're toying with purchasing. All I can say is just go for it.
I got a pair in 2005 which i used daily for multiple hours till they fell apart from use in 2019 so i replaced them with a new pair of HD 600s which are going strong and look brand new after 3 years of daily use. Saw them on a sale massively reduced in price so i got a spare pair for when my 2019 pair give up the ghost in many years to come.
A friend recommended the HD 600 for mixing; had the AKG 240 DF for years, tried DT 770pro ( to boomy ) ; AKG nice , but HD 600 really a step forward… Like to mix on speakers ( Tannoy 1200 ) with present highs , the HD is a tiny bit „ less sharp „ everything else is in the cans like on my Tannoys :)
What can I possibly say that hasn't already been said about this legendary performer? New colour and plastics bringing this inline with the same design language as the HD650 and 660S is much appreciated from me, never liked the marble effect. Many thanks Sennheiser
I use these for listening to music and I am fully satisfied. Good spacial sound and very good quality. The fit is comfortable enough so that I can use them for hours.
After reading many reviews of these headphones I decided take the plunge. So glad I did, still wearing them in but I am delighted with both the sound and the comfort of them. Highly recommend.
I would characterise the sound of these headphones as pristine and clean. They are refined and elegant in the way that Swiss or German chocolate is refined or elegant. Reviews on them often point to the fact that they are lacking in bass. This is not true. I have them connected to a DAC, permanently wired to my computer. I have set the software EQ of the DAC to have enough bass to fill a troll's cavern. The bass will not drown out the refinement of the sound at the high end. There are moments, while listening to a song, where I would just go, "Oomph!", as the sound hits me. I've just had them for one week so, I'm still playing around with the different parameters. But, I've seen enough to know that my quest for perfect headphones can end here. It probably won't but.....it can. The reason why I haven't given them 5 stars is because they are not perfect. But, they are close.
