I found the safe unusable. The battery terminals on the safe were the same size as the ones on the battery itself. As a consequence I couldn't even begin the process of putting the safe in operational condition. Also, I didn't realize the extent of the limitations in terms of usage, i.e. only paper in plastic bags, open safe once a month (lots of messing around). I returned the unit and will search for something else.
The safe appeared to set up easily as far as a personal code and registering it was easy. But it failed to open easily and in fact I have returned it due to failure to be opened.
I just received the CHW30300 and it was easy set up the combination and at this time all is going well. Love the fact it is a digital safe. Hope it will perform better than my last Fire/Water Chest.
It's ok , but I'm sick of reviews . It could have come with a battery. I'm a bit remote so I have to make a trip to town or buy one on the internet. Every time I buy anything I'm expected to give yet another review . Who cares . I couldn't give a toss .
The safe is faulty and does not actually lock. We moved and trashed the box so didn't get to return it, but would not recommend this product. Also does not come with a battery, so it took several days before we could even test it out.
I appreciate that the safe kept all our stuff safe in a fire, but it fell apart after. The after fire replacement guarantee is extremely difficult to navigate. I would rate much higher if it wasn't so hard to get the replacement.
The safe was not what I had expected. I thought there would be a back up way to open the safe, like a hidden keyhole. The first time opening the safe the latch kept getting jammed. We finally figured out that we had to push down on the lid before pushing the latch to open it. For the price it should have been easier to handle. It will not open easily without pushing down on the lid first.
I bought 2 of these safes. One for myself and one for my elderly parents. After 'some' difficulty with the one I set up for myself, it is now working for me. Although, the one I programmed for my parents is another matter. It is definitely not user friendly for seniors. The requirement to press down on the unit while depressing the lever, is very difficult for them. I managed to do it, but it seems to have a mind of it's own when it wants to open. I will return my parents' unit. It has caused them much stress that they are not able to operate it. If it would just pop open once the combination is entered, and no levers to squeeze, it would be so much better.
Perfect for our small valuables and documents. Easy to
The digital fire/water chest is well built, simple to operate.
