SentrySafe Fire and Water Safe, Large Combination Safe, 0.8 Cubic Feet, SFW082CTB

An awesome safe from a very good company. The only minor thing to be aware of is that the edges and corners are almost rounded, so it is very difficult to lift it and move it; once it is secured in place it is fine and will protect what you need very well.

I wanted a safe where I did not need to install and maintain even more batteries. I was looking more for fire protection than water or burglary protection as mostly documents are stored here. This was delivered on time and in great shape... perfect for my needs.

This safe replaces a very similar model Sentry Safe we lost in a fire that destroyed our home. The safe survived the fire and water from the fire hoses. AND so did the contents of the safe which included some very valuable papers. The dial experienced some damage and I had a locksmith help me open it. It was a great safe and that is the reason for purchasing another Sentry.

I was worried this safe might be too large for my needs but it is perfect for my requirements thanks to the organization provided by the sliding tray drawer.. I live in a lower level suite so flooding is a potential risk and I wanted to make sure I had water protection for cash/passport/birth certificates etc.. the fire rating is a bonus and it's heavy enough to be a deterrent for any unwanted intruders.. I won't be mounting it to anything as it voids the flood rating, but it does come with the option if water damage isn't a concern for you.. I'm not sure if this safe is suitable for digital media like external hard drives but there is definitely room for it.. worth the money if you aren't overly concerned with the extra locking mechanisms on higher end models.. it comes with a fire replacement guarantee - I suppose my only knock would be it's unclear if registering the safe online is sufficient or if I also need to mail in the paper form.. there's obviously an answer for that though, so doesn't affect my overall experience..

This Safe, with its simple dial combination, has no need of difficult-to-access batteries which must be replaced periodically, or which might “explode” and corrode the safe. It has no “readers” or screens that wear out. Without batteries, it doesn't have an interior light, but that is a good trade off! The dial combination is good quality; it feels and sounds nice, and works smoothly. The door seals firmly without any “rattling” — it does not jiggle or shift. A good investment providing the needed protection for valuables!

I'm very happy with this safe. The interior pics did not show that there was a draw that came with the safe, it would have been helpful to know this before purchasing another draw.

This safe is the right size for our purposes and weighs just enough to make it a hassle to take. It does come with bolts but we are unsure about compromising the water/fire resistance. The only negative is the cheapish feeling plastic handle

Instructions are easy to follow and I appreciated that stickers on the front of safe removed easily and left no sticky residue. Tested several times before securing documents. My safe wobbles a little as it seems to not sit quite level. As I don't plan to move it regularly it won't be a problem, but I was surprised to find this, when I unpacked the safe. Would prefer instructions to be in separate books by language. I don't need a book of 30 pages when I only need the first 10.

I'm happy with the safe size and its' sturdiness. However, I am not too please with the way the combination sorta sticks as I'm trying to do the combination! I was thinking of purchasing a second similar safe, but the combination "thing" bothers me.

My two biggest issues are that I have the one with the dial. I hear the locks are easily picked with a fingernail file. 1) The dial is made of cheap plastic. I'm afraid it will break and my stuff will be stuck in it. The dial is hard to turn. 2) None of them with a dial allow legal size paper. So all my important bank documents won't fit. I decided to go with a competitor's safe.
