Based on receiving it, "installing it", and having it for a month, this 100% serves my purposes. First, be warned and be prepared, it is VERY heavy when delivered to your front porch or door. By sliding it on an open carton, I was able to get it to my pretty secretive location. The controls work very well. Mine is in a location where I cannot stand right into front. The push button number entry works great and in my opinion is far better than using a dial like an old fashioned safe. The user manual is excellent - but one big caution I don't know how to well solve: on the back cover page of the user manual, the manufacturer has pasted the override codes to open it. IF you keep that manual around your house, anyone who gets the manual and turns to the back cover can know how to open your safe. Following their guidance, I bought a big bag of dessicant and I plan to replace the one or two dessicants now in the safe every several months. Apparently, moisture is a concern, so pay attention to their guidance to open the safe every couple of weeks to let any moist air escape.

Hasn't been through a fire or a flood but very easy to operate. I thought the XL looked really big in the box. Got a large size instead. It is big enough for the documents and items we wanted to secure and size is adequate. Doesn't take up too much space in the closet where it is located.

Great little safe, but there are a few flaws. There are two battery compartments, the man one being inside the safe itself. That's fine and dandy as there is a backup battery compartment on the outside. The flaw of the outside compartment is that the battery itself can't be stored inside the housing, the battery is left to dangle until the inside main batteries are replaced. What I feel could be another flaw is that the opening handle is opened using a cable. In time I could see that snaping from use and then the safe being rendered useless.

Our bank branch closed and we chose to buy a safe that was available to us at all times. We researched several brands and sizes. The size we purchased was perfect for all our documents. If you have a large amount of jewelry and personal documents, purchase a larger size. We are pleased with the key override and ability to create multiple codes. Backlit keypad is very helpful. There is also a light on the door to aid seeing inside the safe. The safe comes with hardware to mount to the floor. Strongly suggest registering safe on the Sentry Safe website. The website allows the owner to enter the factory code, as well as well as up to 5 personal codes. This allows the owner to access their codes if forgotten. I can unequivocally recommend this safe.

No issues thus far. Hope to never truly test the fire rating. Build wise, the pull lever gives the impression (at the least) of fragility as it's attached to a soft wire/string that's under tension to control the opening mechanism. Lots of audible noises when pulling is concerning. Questionable design choice as I don't know how one would open if it snapped.

Seems like very good quality, and easy to use. But I had no idea there was a problem with mold if it's kept closed for long periods and that you should leave desiccant packs in it. I've only had it a few days so I suppose that if I do what you say it'll be ok.

We already have a large safe, but we wanted a smaller safe that we could keep in our bedroom. We have an open space in our closet and this SentrySafe 0.81 cu. ft. Waterproof and Fireproof Safe for Home with Digital Keypad, Interior Light and Override Keys was the perfect size for the area we wanted to place it. This particular safe has a keypad you use to open it and you can program in any five-digit code you want to use, which is a very simple process. In the event there is a problem with the keypad, or you forget your code, you can open it with a key lock. When you open the door, there is a small light that shines in the safe which is a nice feature. I have not yet bolted the safe down, but it can be done, and it comes with lag bolts to do it. According to the product documentation, it is fireproof at 1700 degrees for one hour and waterproof in five inches of water for 24 hours. Inside the safe there is a sliding tray which is a nice feature if you need to pull some items out. If you're not bolting the safe down and depending on what you store in it, I think you could stand it up so the door is facing up but that is not how we're using it. I'm very happy with this safe and think it is excellent.

I will rate this produce when you figure out why, suddenly, it won't open except with the ke.
