SentrySafe QAP1E Gun Safe with Digital Keypad, 0.08 cu ft

I bought one of these two years ago to install on the wall in my garage. Unlike a different brand that I used in the house, I haven't had to replace the batteries in the existing safe yet, even though it experienced annual temp swings from -22 F to 100 F; the ones in the house from a different company needed their batteries replaced every two months. I bought two more of the SentrySafe units, and I'm very happy. Also, this was the best price on the Internet.

I received this product and a similar Gunvault safe as gifts. This safe weighted approx 3 times as much, much more solid construction. Also, the pry proof seams and silent operation appeal to someone looking for a home defense pistol safe that also keeps the kids out. Great safe!

This safe is perfect for the nightstand. Easily accessed. If it's locked no worries around the kids. This is for safety only. It is not to prevent a thief from stealing your gun. If they want it, they can take the whole box with them.

The unit is very good and operates as advertised, with the excepition it is not quiet opening as stated, but it is just the rattle of the door popping open when the code is entered. However, for what costs it is an excellent buy.

Bought safe $90. Recieved within 3 days free shpng, setup is easy, access is a fast operation/ number and key access, holds a 4" rev or pistol or 2 small guns, fits neatly in a 4" high draw, about 12lb. dimensions 12x9x3.5.

Works as advertised. I keep a 1911 45 ACP pistol and extra magazine and it has lots of room. It can also be wall mounted. Excellent.

I purchased to keep my 6 year old grandson's young hands off and still have fast reliable access to a home defense handgun. Plenty of room for a full size .45 and extra magazine and its a breeze to open. Buttons illuminate when you depress one to bring out of its sleep mode to make code entry easy in complete darkness. This is a very heavy duty safe that can be bolted down if desired. It is somewhat large and it is heavy and it is not very good for putting in a nightstand drawer. Mine sits on top of the nightstand and actually takes up about half of the space but it puts my gun at arms length. Two things that I wish were better and would have given a 5 star rating is that there is no way to secure the safe with a security cable if you do not wish to bolt down. That's a big deal if someone breaks in as all they have to do is carry away the safe and pry it open later. The other improvement I wish it had would be additional interior padding on the lid hinge. I have found that when I put my large frame handgun in the safe it is easy to ding the rear sight against the lid hinge. I put a couple strips of duct tape in there and it works fine but that could be an easy fix at the factory. I compared this to many other quick access safes and this seemed to be a much better unit for a much better price than its competitors. Additionally the digital code entry is a far more reliable system than the biometric fingerprint. Anyone with a fingerprint reader on a smartphone knows that it doesn't always unlock the phone on the first attempt and that's not something you want in a home defense gun safe.

Have owned this gun safe for a couple weeks now. The construction is very good. It seems well made. The only thing I have noticed which is why I gave it a 4 instead of 5 is, the cover is supposed to open up by itself when you enter your combination but sometimes it hesitates or even needs a little help to get open. For the price its worth it in my opinion. It fits my Ruger SR9 and an extra clip and keeps it away from the kids, which was my main concern.

Even with very fresh batteries, the safe fails to function when buttons are pressed on occasion. I have had to key open and remove and re insert batteries to get the code open function to work. Not what I want to trust if I need to get this safe open quick in an emergency.

The safe is compact and is easily attached to floor. Only complaint is that when I put in the code , the safe unlocks, but door does not spring up. I have to use a fingernail to lift lid . Not good in an emergency.
