Fast shipping, delivered and placed in garage (make sure you are home for delivery). All in all the safe is nice and meets my expectations. Glad I bought the bigger one.
If you're buying a safe, buy bigger than what you think you need! I was raised with a safe in the house and I finally convinced my wife to have one too. No more passports in the kitchen drawer! Remember if you choose to bolt it down it nullifies the waterproofing properties (but this is any safe). The key is for extra security in addition to the combination lock. This safe gives you what you are looking for in the cheapest package, and it's attractive to look at. The dial is smooth and clicks when you spin it. #sweepstakes [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
It is black and made of metal, it contains stuff, valuable stuff. This was not written by a first grader.
This is my second safe that I buy from Sentry, 15 years ago and it's still in great shape and functional.. Strong, reliable and affordable, I'm very happy with my safes
Love the safe and it works great but it did arrive damaged. Based on the condition of the packaging it's obvious the safe was damaged before it was packed. The damage is mostly cosmetic so I don't see a need to return it, but I really don't feel like I should still pay full price. I'll be meeting the manufacturer know as well.
We received our safe after it was on back order. We were missing one of the shelves so I called Zoro and was told they would send us the missing shelf. Fed X was very helpful in the delivery and got it inside the house and room we wanted it in. So right now waiting for the shelf to be delivered.
The safe itself is heavy duty. That's why I was shocked to see it show up with a cheap plastic dial that was broken right out of the box. This thing is way too heavy to send back, so I'm stuck with it. The thin plastic now sticks out and makes opening the safe very difficult.
The box came in with water damage, safe seems ok. The handle does not seem to catch the mechanism properly and we need to play with it to open the safe. This is the same reason we tossed the old one, but we thought it was us. It may be a lack of attention to choosing quality parts and monitoring the assembly process with tight tolerances. We will see if it gets worse or "heals" up.
The safe is well-constructed, and has reasonable organizing accessories (file drawer, small items drawer, key hooks, small items bin). The combination and key locks both worked well, and the instructions were adequately clear on how to dial in the combination. It is big and heavy, but with a little ingenuity it is not too heavy to horse into a concealed location for bolting down. As a fire safe, it's probably pretty good, per its ratings. But unless you hide it very well, don't rely on it as a security safe, in spite of its impressive appearance. The exterior skin is thin sheet metal, less than 16 gauge. The interior skin is plastic, and the assembly can be drilled into in a heartbeat. I popped off the (plastic) inside panel of the door for a look, and saw plastic tumblers for the combination lock, and most combination lock hardware to be die-cast zinc alloy. (This included the six impressive-looking door locking bolts.) Another small point: The safe would be more useful if it were just about 1 inch deeper. This would provide room to stack .50 cal ammo cans in it, oriented front-to-back. These are great units for protecting, compartmentalizing, and organizing valuables ("Tupperware for men"), but they don't quite fit in this safe.
Love the safe so far but FedEx dumped it on our walk way to house and ran after seeing my husband signaling him to come back. The safe weighs 130 lbs and we had NO way to get it into house. Then FedEx said they would send someone back but never did.
