Serta Big & Tall Office Chair, Bonded Leather, Black

Wow! This chair is so unbelievably comfortable. Most chairs I've owned had a comfortable seat but the back wouldn't be thick. This one is comfortable EVERYWHERE! It has all the stuff most office chairs have like the raising/lowering & tilting. I raised it up as high as it would go and then lowered it and I literally bounced in the seat! Not from the chair but from the cushion, that's how much padding is in the seat. Another small detail Serta included that I appreciate is the tool you use to put it together( Allen wrench) has a handle so it's much easier to tighten screws with than the normal ones. Some measurements are, Arm rest are 21" apart on the inside and 26" apart on the outside. From the floor to the top of seat on low setting is 20-1/2"inches tall and 23-1/4" inches tall on high setting. Arm height from floor is 27" on low and 29-3/4" on high.

Perfect for a 6ft 4in man!!! And he had to have something he can sit in all day because of work at home... the memory foam , easy assembly, arm rests fit perfectly, good looking in an office full of books. Thanks for early delivery, (note, my son ordered 3 different chairs on line, but mom came through with the perfect Serta from Walmart) !!!!!!!!

I am 350 lbs., and this chair sits like a dream. It is sturdy, and best of all it’s a Serta, and for weight larger than mine, so I know it will last a pretty good amount of time. It did come in a bigger box, and very simple to put together. The only complaint I have is that it is a tad narrow for me; not much, but it’s still notable.

It was a privilege to have the opportunity to try this Big and Tall Executive Chair with memory foam by Serta. I basically live in my desk chair at home. I use it for paying bills, working on the computer or watching a show or movie online. I have been wanting one of these big and tall chairs for some time since I am oversized and it's difficult finding an office chair that will last awhile without breaking the bank. My current chair's seat went flat in under two months. Since then I've been using pillows, folded up blankets, anything I can find to add padding so it's not like sitting on a board. The first thing I noticed about this Serta chair was the thickness of the cushion. Between the memory foam and coils, you can feel the support. It doesn't compress when I sit on it like other chairs have. Putting it together took me around a half hour on my own, but that was taking my time. I'm sure someone else could do it in about half that. Pieces all fit together easily and instructions were clear. Thank you to whoever thought to add a handle on the allen wrench that comes with this chair. You are a hero to all of us. The base and arms are a shiny silver metal that is very sturdy and I have no doubt can easily hold the 400 lbs. it states. The chair itself runs around 65 lbs. I was surprised the casters weren't metal as well. If you are larger, sometimes desk chairs are not wide enough and you have to live with the arms biting into your hips and thighs. I did not find that a problem here. However, the seat was short on me at first. There is a lot of lower lumbar support. Too much for me and I couldn't sit far enough back so I constantly felt like I was being tipped forward. This is getting better the more I use it as the back and seat are softening and conforming a bit more to my body. Time will tell regarding durability, but it's already clear to me this chair is far better than any I've had before and for not much difference in price.

Assembly was about as expected, nothing crazy. We love the handled allen wrench!! This is a sturdy chair, the base is solid. Good quality wheels. Supportive cushions. The faux bonded leather has a soft, buttery feel. I believe it is bonded leather on the seating surfaces and regular vinyl on the back side, but it all blends fine and looks top notch. I was worried this would be a ginormous chair, being labeled "Big & Tall". My husband is 5'11" and around 200 lbs (shown in photo) so not necessarily "big and tall" but he wanted a chair which would seat him up a little higher than his old one, and this does. But it doesn't feel overly big for him or swallow him up so that's good. And nice to know it has a 400-lb weight limit for sturdiness. A few reviewers complained that the recline feature was too stiff and they couldn't push the seat back to lean. However there is a turning knob under the chair that changes the "tension" or resistance of the seat back. You can also lock the recline feature so it doesn't go back at all, using the height adjustment lever on the side.

This office chair is LARGE (it is actually big and tall) and it comes pretty much unassembled. The box was very heavy. It is best to have at least two people lifting it. I just pushed it inside the house only having to lifting a corner to get it over the door threshold. It's big and heavy, but everything was packed very well. Overall, assembly was not bad. From opening a box to being completely finished, it took me about an hour. But, I had a little issue with putting on the back of the chair. It's heavy and i had trouble aligning the holes from the back and the arm rests. And putting in the bolt covers was harder for some than others. The finished product looked really good. And it is VERY comfortable to sit in. I had someone that was over 250 try it out and he had no complaints and fit into it without squeezing into it. It can be adjusted up and down, but I was not able to adjust the back to recline. I think I might have made the bolts too tight? It didn't matter because it feels just fine where it is. How reclined should one be when they are working? It spins around smoothly. In addition to the size and feel of the chair, the rich, dark brown color makes it that much more luxurious.

I wanted to be fair when writing this review, so I waited until everyone had used this chair many times. Let me begin by saying, it's a major plus when assembly is easy and you have everything needed in the box. Absolutely a winner. After assembly is where I'm on the fence. The chair itself is nice, cushioning is great, very supportive. The handles for raising/ lowering, and reclining the back never worked for me. Never. My husband did get the seat to raise/lower, but he couldn't get the back to recline either. When I sit in the chair I always feel like I'm perched forward, not very comfortable. However, he loves this chair and it is now in his tool/unfinished projects cave. I reluctantly recommend this chair. The padding in the seat and back areas are extremely comfortable. The mechanics of raising/lowering and reclining are a bit off. Maybe they have made improvements, if yes....then this would be a great chair.

I bought this because I'm a tall and big guy, and I thought it would be comfortable for me. However, the metal armrests are annoying and make sitting in the chair uncomfortable for long periods. Overall, the chair and cushion aren't bad, but the armrests could be designed much better.

Very Narrow seat. Only 20” between arms. Most non big and tall chairs are 21 and up. Many big and tall are around 23” wide. Plus the metal arm rest are sharp, and they are not comfortable agaist your legs. This might not be an issue with you dont have large or muscular thighs. The chair also has a slight lean forward, no doubt. The seat also didn’t seem deep enough for me. Very disappionted. I’ll be returning it. Cosmetically the chair is beautiful. And it does appear to be very strong and well-made. The base is made of metal as well as the armrest.

Has had a lean to the left since putting it together. Tightened bolts, double-checked assembly, thought it'd settle. Used less than a week and it's bad for my hips sitting at a lean. The silver on the metal was scratched up right out of the box. The height of the arms is uneven. When you look at the padding on the left and right sides of the seat and back they're noticeably uneven. Are these factory reject chairs?
