I already have this kayak in Oregon, I bought another for my vacation home in Illinois. I was going to buy it from Amazon but it was cheaper from Walmart plus I got rewards from Capital One shopping.
It took me a bit of time to figure out how to inflate the kayak and put in the seat. It is not easy for a 72 year old female to do by herself but I got it and had fun paddling around a lake near me.
Light weight and easy to blow up
I did extensive research and found the quality to be very good for the price!
I've been overall pleased with the Sevylor K5 Quikpak. The kayak has a nylon three-chamber air bladder providing structure and a protective outer sleeve that seems rugged. Downsides are properly drying it after use and making sure the sleeve is straight on the air bladder. Making sure the sleeve is straight on sometimes takes some jiggling it. As for drying, I use an air mover fan on my kayak's hard to reach spots. The sleeve has two capped water drains. Make sure those are closed before getting into water, or they become water entries. The water will get into the cockpit through two small drains in the foot area. I learned from the experience of not closing them once that water will fill the sleeve bottom and add a lot of weight to the craft. That's a problem if there's an accidental puncture. If you get a puncture odds are it'll be just one of the three air chambers and even with added water weight in the sleeve you should be able to get to a good exit point on shore on two air chambers. The upside is ease of portability and confidence in areas you wouldn't want to take some inflatable kayaks. I pack mine on a bicycle and ride five miles to one lake. I hike with it a mile to another lake. And I'm 56. A healthy, active 56, but 56. I've been on a Sevylor K1 Quikpak for more than a year. I got overconfident and took it into an area with submerged woody plants and punctured a chamber. I was able to paddle back to the launch easy enough on the remaining air chambers. Get polarized sunglasses for kayaking. They let you see into the water to watch for hazards.
Good quality, lightweight but needs a better skeg. This kayak's skeg rudder is attached, this bends down when packed ino the product box during factory making. With a bend rudder, it was a terrible to paddle. So I cut the atrached skeg rudder, installed a traditional hard slide out dolphin fin shapped on. Much better now. It was worth the few days of extra work replacing the one it has on it.
I have yet to receive the kayaks
Used for the first time today. Kayak seems pretty sturdy with thick canvas cover. Biggest problem was oar. Used it today slow moving river and it snapped in two, completely broken. First use and it's useless. Not sure how to contact seller to get replacement. Would recommend kayak but take an extra oar.
Average so far. I have not tested it but I inflated it. Seems a decent product. Price was best around for new.
