I grew up eating BBQ flavor Shake %26 Bake. Been eating it since I was 15 years old. Always had it with mashed potatoes and peas. Now, it's almost impossible to find it in regular markets where I live. I was super excited to find it online. I picked it up at my local Walmart. I ate it as soon as I got home. It tasted exactly as I remembered. I was 15 again!
This is what I use when I am feeling nostalgic. My mom would always make me my favorite, which was the “Shakin' Bake BBQ” with homemade Mac-n-cheese. Back home in Texas and other states that I live in (I move frequently because of my husband's work) they carry the BBQ at Walmart. Though here in the Home of Walmart (Bentonville, AR) they don't and I wish they did especially at the Pea Ridge Market Place Location. At the stores they carry it in, It's a lot cheaper.
I only buy this to make boneless, skinless chicken thighs. It sticks so well and beautifully glazes the chicken. I've never been able to have bbq skinless chicken come out like this with any other bbq sauce. It doesn't run off like bbq sauce does on skinless thighs. Skin on thighs grab bbq sauce amazingly well but if you're using skinless thighs - try this glaze. It's so convenient and the flavor is delicious. I do miss the shaker bags that used to be included though.
I grew up on this! family liked the original but I loved the BBQ! never saw it before shopping or I'd been using it for decades but I got lucky; it popped up on my app as I was shopping online. cool
I like it. I just wish more stores would carry it and you used to have a teriyaki flavored one, but you all discontinued it, but this is good when I add a lot of Brown sugar and red pepper. Doctor it up.
Not convenient at all! This does NOT come with the shaker bags. The box states shaker bag NOT includes to save packaging. The price is TOO high. The Great Value meat coating is a better choice for my family. This one isn't a good crispy type at all and actually burns to a very hard black crisp. So be careful and mindful in oven temps and times. Meat will end up undercooked but burnt! :(
I haven't had Shake N Bake in a while and was in the mood for the BBQ coating. I was surprised to find they no longer include the shaker bag. The instructions say to use a reuseable container that can be sealed with a lid. They claim this is to reduce plastic use and waste, but if they want to reduce waste, then why not just sell the seasoning packets alone, and not in the box? I much preferred when it came with a bag...it was less mess to clean up and I feel the chicken got coated better. They have taken away all the convenience of the product, and it certainly isn't worth the price they charge.
The BBq Mix was GREAT .Just like it used to be. But where is the bag to shake it in....For the price and no bag . I dont think i would buy it again for that price...
Wish I could review the product itself, but I can't because Walmart never delivered it. The driver posted a closeup of the label, not at all showing where he left it (presumably because he stole or trashed it). Walmart "customer service" was horrible. They insisted it had been delivered (without any proof) and refused to replace OR refund the order. So basically the driver stole my order and the company stole my money. Buyer beware - this awful company might steal from you too. Will never shop at Walmart again.
IT WAS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! Bought the BBQ glaze as my husband was feeling nostalgic and was craving the Shake N Bake BBQ he remembered as a child. They have completely changed the ingredients. The powder coating is supposed to turn into a liquid glaze as it bakes and mixes with meat juices. It no longer does this. It stayed dry and crumbly and had a horrid chemical taste. It literally turned my stomach and I couldn't eat it. To add insult to injury, the company got greedy and no longer includes the shaker pouches, instructions tell you to use your own container. Absolute waste of money and waste of 3 pounds of drumsticks.
