Shan Butter Chicken, 50 g

This packaging includes only the butter chicken masala spices, it is not a kit with any other ingredients, so the result is very fresh with your added fresh chicken, tomatoes, cream, butter etc. but importantly they've got the correct flavor profile bang-on. In fact, the flavor and the spicy heat are such that you can even split the package, using only half as much of the masala powder, and make two dinners out of it, that both still have plenty of flavor and punch, or you can follow the directions exactly and get a very intense and delicious result.

If you're used to Butter Chicken that has been 'dumbed-down' for North American palates, so it tastes like tomato soup, this may not be for you. Murgh Makhani is a mild curry, but this is the real deal Indian style, so it has a bit of a kick. Not very spicy, but not wimpy either. The seasoning mix is bang-on authentic, and following the package directions results in a really terrific curry. Note that this is a seasoning mix, not a meal kit, you bring your own 1kg boneless chicken, (I recommend thighs), ~ 3/4c butter, 500ml. tomatoes or passata, 125 ml. 18% cream, 3 tbl. yoghurt, squeeze of lemon, and a dash of oil. Plus rice or naan/roti to accompany. Follow the directions, and you will be rewarded with a really terrific, authentic Butter Chicken dinner.

I'm sure it's great if you like the hotter side we found it too hot for our taste but you may like it so try it out!

Mostly red chili %26 salt. Whatever other spices in the mix you only taste chili %26 salt. if you're looking for an aromatic, tasty premade mix this isn't the one.

Much too spicy for my tastes.

My mistake, their mistake (?). This is NOT a prepared meal. It needs about 7 additional ingredients -- including the chicken -- and mixing the night before. Once all that is done, it isn't worth the effort. What's the point? Besides that, it burns me up to see Shan Butter Chicken when it should say SBC Sauce, more closely approximating the truth. I don't expect them to include the "not very good and not worth the effort on the package." I'll stick with Tasty Bite.
