Smaller than I expected but is a nicely built clock. Love the fact that it is an atomic clock to reset itself, but think having to charge batteries may be a hassle ( hope not). with the back light is great and the display display of day, temp is awesome for me with aging eye sight
This alarm clock takes 3 AAA batteries and displays accurate time at all times. You never have to reset the clock with daylight savings or standard time as it has a built in receiver that synchronizes itself with the atomic clock. It also displays the indoor temperature, calendar and day of the week. It can be hung up on the wall or placed on any nightstand or table.
I adore this clock! I like the big numbers that show the time and the smaller numbers on the bottom that shows the date, day, and the inside temperature. When I first got it I had to wait a few minutes for the time to sync. It's always going to be the correct time. I no longer have to look through my devices or on a calendar for the date. Now I just look up at the clock and it's there! I wished I had this a long time ago.
Very easy to set, does not miss my wake up time, the room temperature and what I like the best is that the screen's shade of blue is perfect! not too shiny or too light, it has the right tone. I had no problem setting it up, perfect size too. I am very happy with it.
Clock is big enough to easily read the numbers date and day. The button on top makes it easy to read after dark just push the button. The blue glow is great. I wish it had a place for an external power source to light up the face all the time. But it works well the way it is. The front buttons are very easy to set the time, date, and alarm set. It has a slot on the back to hang on the wall or you can use the fold out bracket on the bottom to place on a nightstand or desk. Uses three AAA 1.5 volt batteries that is easy to install. It has a loud alarm to wake up even me. The thin design makes it easy to pack away for travel.
Okay. So I opened the box, put in the batteries (3 x AAA) and it came on with the wrong time and date. So I got out the instructions and read them. They said to wait. I went back to the clock and it had the right time and date. I knows what time zone I am in. It knows what day and time it is. It knows the temperature in my house. It is battery powered so it doesn't care if the power goes out. I guess the only down-side is that I don't have any excuse for being late. Here is the question. Why don't my microwave, oven and coffee pot have this kind of clock in them?
After receiving this clock I tore into it to get it setup. I opened the directions first. I installed the batteries, 3AAA batteries that don't come with the unit. The clock immediately started the display. Then I started setting everything up. Even with the directions it was a little difficult figuring out how to set all the different functions of the clock. You can wait for the clock to find the WWVB signal which could take a long time, even overnight, but I could not wait so I proceeded to manually setup everything myself. As stated, it was confusing for me anyway, not being a rocket scientist. I did finally get a grasp on what I was doing wrong then quickly had everything running well. The one drawback that I see is that I suppose being battery operated, it does not light up unless you press the Snooze\Light on the top and then it only lights up for a few seconds. All in all though, this is a really nice clock that can be placed most anywhere. Sit it on most any piece of furniture or hang on a wall. If you are looking for a nice clock that has most all of the bells and whistles, that doesn't have to be plugged into an outlet, and has time, day, month, year as well as inside temperature and alarm, then this is one to choose.
It's a nice looking desk or wall clock, that doesn't take up hardly any room on my desk. Its measurements are: approximately 6.5 inches wide and just shy of 5 inches tall. It's about ¾ inch thick and with the stand, it is 3 ¼ inches in diameter. The surface is shiny and fingerprints show up very well. On the back side, there is a deep enough cavity for hanging on the wall, and a stand that extends far enough away from its base, to make it sturdy. It keeps good time, with the aide of three new triple A batteries. The blue light greatly improves the view, in function and in aesthetics. The unfortunate aspect is that the beautiful blue only stays on for four to five seconds. I can still see everything fine without glasses if within close proximity. I can see the time almost four yards away. But the grayish color in the background makes it look dark, and I'm unable to make out the rest of the information, unless I'm less than a yard and a half (54 inches), away from the clock. Therefore as a wall clock, it lacks clarity. The numbers are black and are two sizes of giant print (.5 inches high and 1.43 inches high). I like the information it provides, but I especially like the big numbers, the date and the abbreviated day of the week. Both my husband and I thought the temperature recording wasn't accurate. It hovers in the 84-77 range. Even with a fan directly in front of it, the temperate slowly went down to 77, which should be hot, but I was chilly sitting in front of the fan. To change the settings, it requires pressing a button down until it beeps. The alarm was easy to program. When it goes off, it lasts for 54 seconds, and then shuts off automatically, without repeating. As a wall alarm clock, it would be more advantageous to keep on beeping until the person got out of bed to shut it off. The alarm starts out with one consecutive beep, changes to two consecutive beeps, then several beeps at once, and finally, a fast stream of a lot of loud beeping. Each section of change, occurs every ten seconds, with increased volume per change. To repeat the cycle, I'd have to press the snooze button once during the beeping schedule, which begins with five minutes of quiet, before starting again. The clock face tells me it is in snooze mode, by flashing zZ under the flashing colon in the center of the clock face, and a flashing bell symbol on the top left corner. When the alarm ends, all the flashing stops, except for the colon, that flashes continually. You can cancel your alarm, by pressing the alarm button once. It's good that it is easy to reset everything, because whenever the batteries need replacing, it erases all of our selections, except for the day and the temperature. I let it sync one time to see what that was like. I had to wait about nine hours for the morning to arrive. From then on, I manually reprogrammed my selections. The 12 hour civilian clock, and the the 24 hour military clock was an interesting feature. I also liked the idea of the atomic features, even though I didn't use them that often.
My Sharp Atomic Alarm Clock with Indoor Temperature came well packaged. The clock has a built in receiver that automatically gets information from the Governments WWVB radio broadcast. It's supposed to be an atomic clock and says that it is always accurate to within one second due to the WWVB updates. So far it is accurate at least according to my cell phone clock. There is a hole in the back so it can be hung on a wall but I am using it on my nightstand with the clocks built in back stand. I like that in addition to the time and temperature the clock also displays a calendar and the day of the week. The numbers are very large and easy to see. The clock is very bright when you push the button and this may be a distraction to some depending on where you put the clock. I don't use it as an alarm clock myself but I did test it out and found that even on the highest setting the alarm is too quiet for me. Also, you have to use batteries as there is no option to plug the clock in. I don't know yet how long the three AAA batteries will last and I'm a little worried as the clock is so bright when you push the button that I may not get good battery life. Time will tell. (No pun intended).
I never like giving a negative review, lets face it you can always find something good about something so the good thing about this is it does keep time...just not the correct time. I tested and am reviewing the SHARP Atomic Digital Alarm Clock for the SPARK 2.0 Program. I chose this because I love SHARP Products. Also these clocks are precise within seconds of the actual time. Sadly I didn't fare so well with the Clock I received. Of course it searched and searched forever for the time but when it was unable to find on its own I figured I would give it through the night. Nope no such luck. So I hard set it and at first it kept time. Within 22 min. I noticed it was not moving I waited and waited all of a sudden another min. Went on the clock. I checked my watch and the clock on the wall which both had the same time and I lost 3 min. I continued for almost an hour to watch this happened until it was a full 22 minutes behind. So either I got a broken Sharp Atomic Clock or I am not doing something right but with all the clocks I have etc. I think by now I know how to set and first and foremost this is important Read the Directions.
