We bought a pair for my mother in laws place and now have added another for our house as well as a 4'. I contemplated a welded wood rack but time was critical as we had to move the old wood pile and my efforts were spread thin over many projects. Shelter logic was supposed to be a quick fix to my time constraints but now that we have them they will be permanent. My only issue is the cover at my mother in laws which is on the lake and gets windy at times. We have had the cover blow off enough times we no longer use it at that location. I am sure a log at each end on top or if some loops for cord /bungie's would fix.
This is a premium product and it shows. The material is sturdy and all pieces demonstrate a high build quality. For something that is featured prominently in our backyard we felt it was important to have something that looked great and would hold up to weather. This piece looks great and was much nicer than the cheaper entry level alternatives. We fit a 1/4 cord easily and it's great that the cover could be adjusted as needed and will move down the poles as we use the wood stored below. We added some weights on top to keep the cover from blowing off on windy days and they have done the trick. Highly recommended!
Solid, as described. Cover should be taller to cover firewood pile further down. Got blown off in storm. Need to weight down with logs or rocks.
I am a millwright and as going to build another rack but due to time we decided to buy one instead. It assembled quick and easy and is easily as strong as I would ever need compared to my self fabricated ones which are really overkill. We bought one for our house and one for my mother in law who in the end got both of them and we are going to buy another for ouselves. Yes I can build one but for what we need the shelter logic unit assembles quickly and has all the strength required. My time costs money so while buying is I more expensive the shelter logic unit really isn't in the end. The cover is Velcro and due to being on the lake it blew off in a nasty storm the other night which isn't a fault of the design more so the enviornment. I might install a couple of snaps but otherwise no complaints. For our place not on the lake it will not be an issue. I like the cover design where it will drop lower as you consume your pile ensuring good coverage until you have depleted your pile.
Processing and delivery was fast and professional. The rack is strong and durable. Worth the money. I would order another one.
nice rack. takes a little longer than the estimate on the instructions but very sturdy. I have a ouple 12 foot ones that are 10 years old and still doing fine.
I own both models and highly recommend the Ultra Heavy Duty as it really is built quite a bit stronger and worth the extra money. You can stack the wood higher than the end rails and I was able to get a full cord on each of my 12 footers. I like these better than building wood shed/pallet shed, as the air really gets through there and you deal with a lot less mice as they have less shelter/protection from the hawks. My pallet wood shed is constantly infested with mice and these help avoid that as well as neatly stacking & drying your firewood. These are also so attractive that you dont mind having it in your driveway or on your porch. These racks will last a long time and extra covers can be purchased seperately as they likley will only last 3-4 years. Overall, highly recommended.
I have made reviews of the 8' and the 4' is the same. Happy with the purchase.
Somewhat not as heavy as expected, but seems very good overall!
I purchased their "ultra" heavy duty (UHD) 8 foot log holder, as a gift, yet should have purchased ShelterLogic "other' 8 foot holder called the heavy duty (HD)for 1/2 the price. The UHD cover can easily blow away, while the HD can not. I don't see the quality, holding, or ruggedness difference between the two different models (UHD verse HD) Due to my poor product selection my cognitive dissonance on this gift is very low. Glad I don't need to look at it every day.
