Cedar construction. Took paint well. I used a oil based rustoleum paint for water resistance and then I used a clear coat for the final. Hopefully will give me a few years of service. These were very inexpensive compared to other brands. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Good chairs. Easy to put together. Look great. Will need some stain to protect long term but otherwise unbeatable for the price. Hubby had me but two more so we have a set of six!
I painted it with an oil based stain, butternut (color), however the chair needed to be cleaned of shop dust thoroughly before painting. It took me 8 hours per chair to paint and it vastly improved the looks and made it look like a fine piece of furniture and now it is protected. The shipping carton made an ideal ""floor"" on which to paint the chairs. The two barrel bolts needed to be taken apart before bolting the chair.
I was looking for plans to build adriondack chairs and found this kit on the Internet. I purchase 2 chairs to test your site since I haveneverordered from you before. Chairs arrived early, the assembly was easy e.g., 10 mins per chair, and they quality exceeded our expectation. I plan to order 4 to 6 more chairs.
A good little chair for the money. I bought mine in natural and stained them. I didnt bother to sand them first and they came out really nice. Biggest issues were that the holes for the barrel nuts were drilled too deep causing me to disassemble and reassemble in order to correct it. Curse words were prevalent. Also, the seat and backrest seem reasonable sturdy but the arm rests are not. In such a low sitting chair the arm rests should be very sturdy to lean on when getting in and out. I will be reinforcing my chairs armrests both at the attachment point to the back of the chair as well as to the upright at the front of the chair. However, for the price I expected some corners to be cut and they do look very nice.
This chair is exactly what I needed! Would have given a 5 Star, but it was delivered with a few nicks. I just used a furniture pen to fix, it looks great!
We were looking for an inexpensive adirondack chair to put on the lawn for evening cocktails. We wanted it to be inexpensive and dark colored so it would blend in with the landscape. This chair is perfect for us! The design, price, weight, ease of assembly and color meet all of our needs. If it lasts a season or two, we'll be totally satisfied.
The ""burnt"" finish on these pieces look fantastic on our new deck. The first chair was a little difficult to assemble but after that the other ones went together easily. Adding some weatherproof pillows and flowering plants really set everything off. It will be interesting to see how this ""burnt"" finish weathers. So far I've been able to clean off the pollen, etc., with our battery powered blower. Overall, very pleased with the look and comfort of the pieces.
Ought and assembled this at end of April.. look at it now! It started a lovely lime green and is now some sort of aqua with tinges of green left behind. I also see some of the paint is starting to chip away. Not good quail it's at ALL for the amount of money I paid for it. I've been boonswaggled!
These chairs are comfortable and inexpensive. Unfortunately, they are constructed out of fairly flimsy wood, and our finish wore off after about 3 months (during the summer). Now they look terrible. We are shopping for nicer ones elsewhere now and will probably just throw these in the fire pit. I think you get what you pay for when it comes to adirondacks.
