First choice to deter unwanted birds
Sounds crazy, and it's an uncommon use for this - but...Our area has had a very seriously destructive heron and egret "infestation" over the last few years. They cause massive and costly damages where they choose to nest for 8 months of the year each year - and will return for the next 30 years to the same location, unless "encouraged" to move elsewhere. Even though these are beautiful birds to observe from afar, they are nightmare guests to host for 8 months of the year, in groups of 75-100 very large birds in one tree, and create an incomprehensible, destructive and stinky, unsanitary mess where they nest and raise their young. Blowing these air horns is among the few effective measures that can be taken to "invite" them to relocate and nest elsewhere. Nice powerful blasts of noise that send them fluttering out of the trees.
