Shout! Factory - Matinee [BLU-RAY]

Matinee is a worthy addition to the Joe Dante Catalog, Not as iconic as Gremlins or even Grenlins 2, but a very underrated entry, probably his last good fiom befire his downward turn starting with Small Soldiers, a fun tribute to 'B' movies of the 1950's, John Goodman is really fun as a caricature of 'B' movie legend William Castle.

This movie that looks so much better on Blu-Ray and it came with interesting bonus features to enjoy!

In my opinion, the best Joe Dante movie (other than Gremlins 2 or Small Soldiers)

The blu ray was better priced than anywhere else I looked (i.e. Amazon, Ebay, and Target) and it arrived only a few days after I ordered it. The entire process was flawless.

I know giving John Goodman a rating of 5 is kind of pushing it but the 5 rating I'm giving this is based solely on the feel good mood you get from this film. I was not born when films like the Tingles would put electric impulses in seats to bring a great experience to movie goers but this film shows all that and makes you feel was it was like. The character Goodman is based on is certainly the guy that created all.this excitement in the early sixties. It may not be a Movie the liberal Motion Picture Academy would give the Oscar to but its a feel good movie to say "Hey I Wish I Was Around Then". Negative thing for the new Blu Ray release they listed none of the special added things on the Blu Ray in their advertisements on Amazon, Wal-Mart and others and that was enough for me to not buy the Blu Ray version but just keep my DVD version of this film. PS. The movie did create enough EXCITEMENT in me that I went to visit the sites used to film this film so it must touch the heart in that way also.
