A solid choice!

Michael September 30, 2025

A solid choice. In the bag it shows it in great condition and ready when you are. I find it a little too juicy, but you may not if "steaming" is part of what you're making. I pour off juice as needed. It tastes as expected and has a light crunch before cooking.

Love this saurkraut! It reminds me of the saurkraut I grew up eating (we mixed ours with mashed potatoes). Its an excellent value and, in my opinion, tastes much more like homemade than the canned sauerkraut. Besides being a great side dish or an addition to soup, I find it a tasty, low calorie meal when eaten with potatoes and seasoned with Great Value lemon-pepper!

Good sauerkraut, with health benefits.

Kay November 30, 2025

I have disliked the taste of sauerkraut ever since I was a kid but I eat it for the health benefits. It has a lot of vitamins and minerals, and if you eat the type that has to be refrigerated it helps with your gut bacteria (it hasn't been ultra-pasteurized like the canned stuff, which means it isn't dead). That said, this stuff tastes about as good as I can expect sauerkraut to taste to me. I highly recommend this for people who like sauerkraut and want the best Walmart has to offer.

Tastes great you'll finish it all!

Jojo July 16, 2025

Is this in a bag…. Yes, is it resealable…. No does that matter? No, you might just eat it all in one sitting. After many years of searching for good sauerkraut even trying to have German sauerkraut imported, this sauerkraut is excellent and I find that I keep going back for more and more sauerkraut even if I am out of wurst or dogs… once you're done with cooking your dogs throw this on the pan and soak up the what's on the bottom of the pan and enjoy the tangy lightly sour flavor and enjoyable texture that this provides.

This brand is the best for taste and value.

Seth January 1, 2026

I eat several pounds of sauerkraut every week. For the price, this brand is the best for taste and value. It's not available at every WalMart so if you're getting it delivered, make sure you buy this brand. Over the years I've had issues with their consistency - a few years ago I had to return 5 bags but for at least a year or more they've always been perfect.

Best brand I have found

David December 15, 2025

The stuff in this bag is the best I've tasted so far. I like putting it on sandwiches, eating it by itself and recently attempted adding frozen pepper and onions in, added some acv and a little evoo. I can't remember the full thing, but it tasted great. I do ussually use this as a snack.

Homemade Sauerkraut

Sher October 30, 2025

This beats shredding cabbage. And making your own . And a mess in the kitchen … I love to eat it raw Or jus add pickles diced up in a jar I used to get some sauerkraut at sprouts but it's $8.00 for less than 8 oz I get this 32 oz. Add my pickles n juice to this mixture dressed up n it lasts up to 7 weeks in a mason jar. In your refrigerator Also it has prebiotics n probiotics in it N to me it tastes the same and it's only $3.00

I use it because it's a fermented food and kept refrigerated. That's very important for the probiotics in it. A serving provides about 10 billion probiotics, more than most pills provide plus you know it's live when it reaches the stomach. One of the best thing you can do for gut health. I mix mine with tomato juice which takes away the sourness.

Oversalted!

James November 26, 2025

Was looking forward to adding this to my diet due to the health benefits… Then I took the first bite and almost gagged due to the oversalted high sodium taste. I can't believe how salty this is! So disappointing and will switch to the Walmart brand in the future. The texture is good… Will have to add a rinse-off with fresh water to remove the over salted taste. WHY?

Awful taste and smell, maybe spoiled package

Aislinn January 5, 2026

Let me start this out with saying I do like Sauerkraut. This is my first time also ever having this specific brand. Well when I opened the bag I got a waft of a funky smell. I thought little of it then removed the sauerkraut into a glass container to hold it in the fridge. I weighed out a serving for my lunch and tasted a quick bite. It was nasty. It was sour but with some stinky like pungent smell. I threw it in the trash and the smell was so off my husband thought our toddler had gas. That nasty smell lingered too. I like sauerkraut, many kinds too. But this brand I will not be buying again. Maybe I got a spoiled one or something because it was bad.
