Simple Modern Ascent Flip Coffee Lid - Leak Proof Double Wall Insulated Black

I've bought two of these lids now for my one Ascent water bottle. I wanted a metal bottle like a travel mug, but a wider mouth like a water bottle that I could chug or sip, as needed, and this, plus the water bottle, worked a treat. My first lid's flip lid broke after I dropped the water bottle a couple times, from about waist height. Not totally unexpected since it's plastic, so I figured I'd buy a replacement, and just try to be more careful. Well, I have since dropped the water bottle a million more times, and both lid and bottle have held up great! Yeah, the body is dented towards the bottom, but it still sits flat and the flip top hasn't broken. However, I noticed a small black spot on the inside liner of the flip lid a few months ago, a few months after purchase. I tried scrubbing at it, soaking the lid in bleach, soaking it in peroxide - nothing has worked, and the spot grew several, smaller spot friends. I admit it probably sounds sketchy that I'm still using the lid, but I wash the lid and bottle several times a week, and the lid and bottle were kind of expensive, especially since I had to buy a second, extra lid. I actually came here to buy a last replacement lid, but I might just invest in another bottle from S'well. I was actually replacing a S'well that I had stolen out of my car (sad) when I got my Ascent bottle, because I really liked the variety of colors for both the bottles and the lids. TL;DR: Great lid style for the Ascent, but not a lot of longevity.

There are two big problems with this lid. First, the flip top lid does not open far enough. When you tilt the bottle to drink from it, the “clean" underside of the lid will rub against your nose, which is pretty gross. The lid should be re-designed to allow the flip-top to open further and lie as flat as possible against the top of the lid. And second, the water pours out too fast from this lid when trying to take a drink and you have to be very careful to avoid spilling water all over yourself. I find it works best to let the water “pour” into my mouth instead of trying to carefully drink from it. On the positive side, I do like that I can re-fill the bottle using the open flip-top without having to remove the lid. I also like that the lid was available in multiple colors and I was able to get the perfect matching color to the bottle.

I really can attest to this Ascent Water Bottle flip lid is a winner! Convenient to carry and easy to clean. Simple Modern has proven to be an upright, honest fair practiced business. I've dealt with this company for a few years now, always satisfied with your customer practices!

Spill proof, matching blue to my Deep Ocean Ascent water bottle, and convenient for staying hydrated while traveling or staying home! I like the feel, And the small mouth so that it doesn't splash me in the fast while driving. I carry it with me literally everywhere. I want everyone I know to love these bottles as much as I do!

I waited months after getting my bottle to get the Flip Lid and it's perfect. I prefer the chug option to the straw and this was just what I needed. I had a tendency to take off the original lid and lose it. I still have the luxury of being able to carry the bottle without having to take off the lid to drink.

I had to get use to how far back to tip the bottle without getting dumped on with water. Not it's fine, has a nice tight seal when closed. i use it everyday!

First of all, these Simple Modern water bottles are awesome, keeping liquids hot or cold for hours! The Flip Lid is for those of us who don't really want to suck on a straw. They are simple, easy to flip open, and still leak proof!

It doesn't seem like the handle is very robust, and it's kind of hard to drink out of the lid without hitting your nose.

A must for my car, little league games and all my activities. One hand flip lid for a quick sip and a secure seal so no spills in the car.
