I purchased this trash can for my son's apartment, and I'm very happy with the choice. This brand has always delivered excellent quality, and this trash can is no exception. It's sturdy and durable enough to handle constant use, and the soft close lid is nice feature. The design is sleek and nice and perfect for my son who can be a little rough on things. I highly recommend.

Great trash can! We've had Simple Human trash cans in the past, but the touchless kind. Due to grandkids not understanding how touchless works, those were broken and we decided to go with a step can for the next several years until the grand kids are older. This one works smoothly, holds a standard 13 gal bag and changing the bag is easy-peasy. I like the side step so I can tuck it next to the fridge.

Finally a trash can that holds a trash bag in place with a handy foot step to open the can when hands are full or dirty. And, my frisky kitty can no longer get in the trash and leave surprises for me when I get home from work!

Much better than another trashcan we had that was also slim but had a plastic insert for the trash bag and it was always getting stuck. This one is much sleeker and easier to use, less battling with plastic when you're taking out the trash.

This garbage can screams quality. But, it's a garbage can - even on sale, I probably paid too much.

We originally purchased a well known brand of can that one can find at the big box stores. Our garbage closet is small and we like to have a can for trash and a can for recyclables. Let's just say you get what you pay for. They were hard to open, and really hard to fit the liner. I finally got my husband to agree to throw them away and get SimpleHuman. They are pricey for something you put your throwaway trash in but man are they nice! Gorgeous color, super easy to use and the liner inserts are a breeze!! Thank you!!

I've owned a SimpleHuman butterfly lid trash can for 21 years and absolutely love it, but it now has quite a few dents, so it was time to replace it. Unfortunately, I didn't think about how much space was needed for the top of the new can to flip open. The side of my counter extends 4 inches into the space where I wanted to put the can, so the overhang prevented the lid from opening. If the overhang had been only one or two inches I could have made it work, but the four inch gap looked bad, so I had to return it. I must add that the overall quality of the can doesn't seem as good as my 2005 can, which is sad, since the price has increased by 50% . Also, when you unbox yours, carefully inspect the stainless steel for scratches. Mine had a 6 inch, albeit very thin, scratch across the lid. The packaging on any SimpleHuman can is amazing, so the scratch obviously happened before the item was packed. So even if the can had fit my space, I still would have had to exchange it because of the defect.

For the price point, you'd like to see it made in America. It is beautiful though and functions well. It's held up for two years, though recently one of the hinges broke. They stood by their warranty, even though I didn't have a receipt, but just a serial number. Good company, and if they made these in the US, I'd be happy to pay even more.

This has been an upgrade in our kitchen - it is a good product. My only complaint is that it feels a bit light - it moves around with use on our hardwood floor. I need to put some kind of a pad under it to prevent this. Otherwise, I am happy with the upgrade.

We really like the trash can; however, it arrived dented, which is the reason for the 3-star review. When you pay $100 for a trash can, it should arrive in perfect condition. There was one small dent on the top of the trash can we were willing to overlook, but then saw a bigger one on the back that appeared to occur during shipping. The only options online are to return the item and then re-order and wait for another one to arrive. We have a newborn and are now a family of five and weren't willing to go through the hassle of returning and reordering because we needed the trash can as soon as possible. This trash can isn't carried in our local stores so it's not an easy exchange situation. But that big dent really bugs us…
