Very versatile and delicious potatoe product. From a holiday side dish to a breakfast main dish these hasbrown potatoes are great in many recipes. I've been using them in place of frozen hash browns for years I think that the flavor is fresher. If you are making a dish for a large gathering of 7 or more you might need more than one bag . My friends and family loves the dishes I make with Simply Potatoes
This product is much fresher and has less brown Pieces then Ore-Ida brand however, this 20 ounce package does not completely fill a 9 x 13 pan as high as I would like it to and so I usually end up buying Ore-Ida and throwing away the brown pieces and adding in a fresh potato.
Although I had thought these would be easy to make, they, to me, were not. I love these types of potatoes at restaurants but could not get the same result here at home. I used low heat on my gas stove but they still burned on the bottom. They were just not as easy to make as I thought they would be.
These Shredded Hash Browns were so fast %26 easy to prepare. They crisped up well %26 the flavor was awesome! I like that these aren't frozen. Just take them out of the Fridge %26 pan fry in a small amount of oil. My husband, who is very picky, %26 I loved them %26 I will now keep these on hand for a delicious addition to our meals. Just season them to your taste. I highly recommend these!!!
These simply potatoes are absolutely simply delicious. There's no other way to say it.! They're perfectly versatile from making simple hashbrowns to making a hash brown crust for a quiche or making Potato pancakes with that dollop of cream cheese and a little chive on top absolutely delicious. It's perfectly endless what you can do make little shredded potato cups, and stuff it with anything you want so easy so easy. They crisp up perfectly. They're lightly seasoned so you can season it yourself. I prefer to spice them up with some red pepper flakes. I made the most delicious potato pancakes.
I tried these and they became a regular item on my grocery list. They keep with refrigeration for several weeks but I have also frozen them and they were still really good when allowed to thaw before cooking. Really nice whe used in a Potato Omelet. Dehydrated shredded potatoes cannot come close to this item for quality, taste, and ease of preparation. Try them; you'll like these refrigerated shedded potatoes! They are crispy and delicious, and a snap to prepare.
I've eaten and love these potatoes. They are easy to prepare for any meal. Cooking is quick, as well as cleanup. Perfectly pan cooked hashbrowns every time. They can be addictive. However, there is one problem. So I buy them sporadically. I've attempted to attach a picture of pan frying potatoes. I hope the picture attaches successfully. If so, notice potatoes with spots on them. One light, and one dark. The light spot is a potato peel skin. The dark spot is from a rotten part of a potato. Here is what you don't/won't see in the picture. The amount of rotten pieces of potatoes that were in this one bag. I picked and threw out the rotten bits before I thought to take the picture. Now for years, thishas been the norm with these potatoes. The bags are always full of rotten potatoes. I buy these potatoes forgetting the rotten potatoes inside. I only think of how tasty they are and how easy they are bto prepare and cook. However, I always end up throwing them out. I am not going to eat rotten potatoes nor pay for them. Sometimes I get a really good bag without rotten potatoes. They make great potato cakes as well as plain old pan fried potatoes.
I wanted the convenience of not needed to peel and shred potatoes for a recipe that required shredded potatoes. When I opened the package, the potatoes were mushy and watery. However, they were fine in the recipe but I doubt I'd use them again. I would not use them for hash browns.
This item used to be labeled as non-gmo. I saw the non-gmo certified label was missing so I read the back of the package and sure enough, it says it contained bioengineered ingredients. GROSS! I'm stuck with these now but I will never buy these again! GMO foods are NOT safe and cause gut issues as well as other health issues. It's no coincidence everyone seems to have digestion and gut problems now! It's the so called food.
Got 2 bags TODAY (January 18th 2026) with expiration in March 2026. They were rancid - completely rotten. Sealed bag. So either the manufacturer is bagging up bad product or Walmart is mishandling their food. Either way, this is unacceptable. It smelled up my whole house and ruined my dinner plans. I live 5 minutes away from Walmart, so it wasn't my travel time, and everything else in my pickup order was fine.
