I am a beginner but this machine has been just right. I sewed a skirt from a Simplicity pattern, a cape and a costume skirt, and have sewed for crafts on this now. I came from a vintage (like 1940s) machine, so some things feel odd, but overall it's done what I asked it to, correctly, every time. The hand wheel is small and weird, but having the bobbin up front is so nice. I wish there was more information on the stitches, but I found what I needed on YouTube.
I've had the machine a week, and so far, so good. I'm a novice and haven't sewn in over ten years. But I'm semi-retired now and have more time for creative projects. I've swapped out a button on a purse for a magnetic snap using the button foot and stitch - super easy. And I added washable filter fabric to some masks - also easy. I'm looking forward to being able to hem my own clothes and do minor fixes.
This is a wonderful basic machine. It's easy to thread, accelerates smoothly and I absolutely love the drop-in bobbin. It's a good machine for a beginner or someone (like me) who only uses a machine for seams and zippers. It's very user friendly I am extremely happy with it.
Right out of the box, the instructions to sewing were very simple, from Threading the bobbin to sewing multiple projects the day I received it. The needle threaded took a couple times to learn but once I figured it out, it's such a life saver for these old eyes :)
My sewing machine which was probably 20 years old decided to not make anymore masks or sew one more stitch. Who would have thought there would have thought there would be a mad rush for sewing machines. But there was. So this sewing machine was worth the wait! It has everything I was looking for nothing fancy just a nice singer sewing machine with a few extra's. I can't wait to find out what it can all do.
Waaaaay different than my 55-yr. old current Singer! I couldn't figure out how to get the bobbin thread up to the needle. Then after watching a video, discovered it's automatic! How cool! This machine has more power than old one as well. Very happy!
This machine is SOOOO easy to use. I have owned 2 other singer machines in the past and only sew once in a blue moon. I went looking for something user friendly that even my 11 year old daughter could use without me getting a headache. This machine is it!!! So many improvements!
My daughter loves this machine and how easy it is to use! We also love the design (on top of the heavy-duty machine) that we know will last for many years!
It is so easy to carry and it's also easy to to work with. I downloaded the manual from the internet so I would be using it properly.
I am very disappointed. The bottom stitch is just "held" not linked with the top stich. You can pull it and all comes undone. I am a pro with many years of experience in all relating needlework techniques. I wish I had not given up my Elna. The ladies in my family use their "dated" Singer, so I thought I would use this Singer for small jobs.
