Ease of use

Christie November 19, 2025

I have sewn several things now and it is very easy to use. The self threader is wonderful. I have trouble seeing the needle hole, so this is an amazing feature. The cut thread with push of a button is also very helpful.

Great for beginner and hobbyist

Love this machine. I've had it for 6 months. Use it almost daily. Still learning all of the programmable features. It's good for beginners and has many features to learn as you build knowledge

Love this machine!

Runs super smooth and quiet. I love this machine so much and have only used it for a couple weeks. Only complaint i have is that the bobbin is a pain to wind 😅

So far so good

Tiffany January 4, 2022

I bought this a few months ago when it first hit Joann's. I was a little nervous because I couldn't find any views, but it works well I haven't had any issues. I purchased this after sewing on a smaller brothers and singer beginners sewing machine. I've sawn a few small bags one using cork with no issues (except user error!! Found it best to only use Singer needles!).

So much technology!

Gypsyjunction88 May 14, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is an upgrade from my previous machine, but this definitely has a learning curve from me going from fairly basic to such a computerized machine. That's not a complaint of course. It will take time for me to learn the whole machine. In order to be more green, they have you download the manual on your phone. It's actually pretty difficult to find trying to search for the C9920, but you can use the same manual as the C430. I would prefer a paper version, but it is what it is. Outside of not having a manual, it's fairly self explanatory. The thread gets wound easily and fast on the bobbin. It comes with a handful of plastic bobbins, larger in size than my previous machine. I can get through a project faster because I have to switch bobbins less often. The embroidery fonts I'm still getting used to. You've got to get the tension right and know which mirroring is happening. Lots of bells and whistles to learn. I do like that you can have the computer memorize a handful of wording. If you have repeat names for projects, it is practical. Although, it's very easy to put in the names and delete too. You can even mix match fonts. The cute borders are awesome too. You can do hearts or airplanes or ducks. Plenty of patterns to choose from. Best of all is probably the stitch memory though. If you're project has lots of parts, this comes in handy! In terms of things it doesn't have, I do wish it had a cover for it. Just for the sake of carrying it and making it less prone to accidents or even dust. It also is much bulkier than my old machine, but that's not a complaint. Just something I noticed. I wouldn't want to carry this around from place to place. This would be more of a keep in one spot and sew. Everything else is beautiful about this. I've been able to play around for a while now and it hasn't glitched. The errors I get on it are human errors and easy to pinpoint. The computer tells you what you're doing wrong. It's a lot of technology, but it's worth it! This is a name that every family knows and it continues to give me great results in projects big and small. My only suggestion, provide a printed manual.

Amazing machine!

Jina May 13, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am totally thrilled with the capabilities of this machine. First I love the fact it has a handle so it can be carried around, second the instructions are easy to understand, in fact they are step by step how to wind up the bobbin and thread the needle. In no time was I up and running. When opening the top of the machine there is a list of all the stitches, and believe me there are tons of options. Naturally I tried out a few and wow it was incredible how this machine not only stitched up my selection but switching to another stitch was easy, peasy. I have owned a few economy models to get me by, but this Singer is fabulous, the sky is the limit.

A great Machine !

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The SINGER C9920 Computerized Sewing Machine is very modern . Extremely easy too use .Everything needed to operate my machine was included . I choose the thread of course . I do recommend reading the Manuel . you can find your manual online as describe in the Singer memo .Also a complete instruction book can be downloaded . It will help you know and operate the machine better . I like The fact . I can set the sewing speed of the machine to my pace .This allows for a better sewn product . The bobbin is easy to thread and very easy to see .After you finish sewing the thread trimmer button will cut both the bottom and the top thread . I really like this .It helps when both threads are cut . The C9920 machine includes a Handle . It makes it much easier to move to your liking .It measures 6.6 needle to tower. And 4.25 in height . The LED screen shows stitch selection and settings . It has 5 fonts . And 810 stitch applications . I like that you can program the machine to preform the tie off at the end of a stitch . No more worrying about loose ends that way .The machine has a self adjusting tension setting .That will save so much time in its self .I liked the slide off of the storage compartment .It allows you to sew sleeves , cuffs , and hems so much easier . The machine size is 17.5 x 8.2 x11.8 The machine weight is 20 . This machine is great! Learning more and more everyday about my machine . I love it !

AMAZING -- a real winner!!

jeal1007 May 15, 2022

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I haven't sewed in a long time and took this Singer sewing machine out of the box with great anticipation. I wasn't disappointed! Pros: -It includes 19 accessories: extra needles, extra bobbins, 8 different presser foot options that are labeled, etc. -The general-purpose foot is installed and ready to go. -There's a very handy, well-placed accessory holder ON the machine. This handy storage slides off to allow easier access for sewing sleeves, cuffs or hems etc. -Easy to get started and use it! Includes a Quick Start (paper) guide which shows the thread path down to the needle. (The complete manual is available online — which I highly recommend reading.) -Bobbins are easy to make and easy to view properly in place. -Manual includes a super helpful chart featuring the type of fabric, thread size and recommended needle size which has a color coded shank. -If you follow the directions the self-threader actually threads the machine needle! WOW, what a great feature. Love it. -Two other favorite features: cutting thread is a push of a button; option to use the pedal or start-stop button. You can even customize the speed of your machine. -Easy to read LED screen. There's a huge amount of customization available for your desired thread type, length, repeating pattern, mirroring, five fonts etc. Lift the top lid for a quick reference of all the thread options. With these many options I think you'd be looking for opportunities to use them. I've used scraps of material to try out different options out of the box. You can even program a tie off. I watched a video online that was helpful in understanding how to select and customize the thread type etc. Cons: -Doesn't come with a dust covered as listed in the online manual. -Really wish the lettering height was bigger. -Wish there were more online videos especially regarding thread customization. This is an amazing, modern, well thought out machine. It's like Singer thought of all the things that might frustrate a sewer and made an easy to use feature that eliminates it. Love to see it! I'm learning more everyday about my machine. With the quality and value of Singer I expect this machine to last a very long time. This is a real winner!!

Decent for a casual apparel sewist

Neighborlady February 19, 2024

I wanted a machine for apparel sewing, not embroidery or quilting, but most machines come with all the extra stitch functions, which I find distracting to simply accessing what I need. This is a good basic machine with apparel capabilities, but the I wanted a narrower free arm, and this one is wider than my old machine's. (I was told by another brand seller that computerized machines can't have that narrow of an arm.) The threader is difficult and the bobbin winder is slow, but the bobbin holds twice as much thread as my high end Viking. I decided to return it and keep what I have.

Gifted from a friend at Christmas 2021

newbeginning724 October 23, 2022

I love this machine for piecing and simple sewing, I've not had much of a chance to get familiar with it. I had a hard time finding a manual and contacted Singer and they sent a link and I was able to download it. Thank you Singer. Now I have one more issue. I wish I knew how to disengage the Start/Stop feature. I begin sewing, only for it to stop about 20 stitches in. Very frustrating. I've looked in the manual and it isn't in troubleshooting. It only tells me when i have the msg on screen that the foot pedal in plugged in, well, I want the foot pedal in. As stated, I don't want the start/stop on. Other than that, I think it will be great, tension seems to be great from what i've seen and I just have to read more of the manual to learn the stitches. lol, but I can't get over the frustration of the darn stop start feature, easier to go to another machine. I would recommend, I'm sure I just got a bad apple?
