According to my sister, is the best machine of its type. With its versatile array of jobs make it the best she has ever seen for the price.
I have had this machine for a month now and am very pleased. I have sewn medium weight cotton and thin knits with no problems.
I haven't had any problems with it at all. I am 100% satisfied and would recommend it to anyone interested in a nice machine, yet still affordable.
I hem, make repairs and embellish. My old sewing machine was purchased in 1969 for Mother's Day at Sears. It was a Kenmore. I spent many happy hours with that machine. Sewing for my daughter, myself and making pants for my son in parochial school. However after 50 years of loyalty and many happy hours creating it said uncle. I am one who services my machine regularly (probably why it lasted so long) . At 70 I may not get another 50 years personally, but I am hopeful my family will. I learned first to see on a treadle Singer sewing machine that belonged to my Nana. So Singer was my very first choice.
This is the absolute best model of Singer sewing machines manufactured in a very long time. Metal inner frame, easy enough for a beginner with plenty of room to grow into. Lots of features for the more advanced sewist. Extra bright LED lights make it sew easy to see your work. Many decorative stitches to choose from all at the touch of a button. Choose to either use the foot controller or simply touch a button for automatic stitching. Set the speed control to your comfort level. The automatic needle up / down is perfect for making those pointed corners. The SwiftSmart threading system is awesome!! I have owned my 7640 for about 4 years and just purchased one for a friend. I have put this 7640 through some real torture tests and it has never let me down.
Initially I purchase the machine so I could make a few face masks for myself. My daughter recommended that I sell some to my friends. Within 1 hour of posting photos of the masks I sold more than enough to pay for the machine! I really like the auto needle thread function even though I haven't mastered it. Singer Confidence 7640 is a wonderful sewing machine!!!
I simply love my new sewing machine. The footpedal that came with it didn't work but a simple phone call got me a replacement that works just great. I've already made my first machine quilt on it. I would definitely recommend the sewing machine to any begining machine quilter.
This product is easy to use and wonderful the only issue i have is the jack where the foot pedal connector is does not make good contact. The foot pedal doesn't work good. Sometimes i have to fight it. This happened within the first 24 hours of having the machine. I did not contact customer service to replace bc of covid-19 it would have taken me even longer to get my machine. Its also probably sold out. I was very limited on choices.
I received this as a gift from my daughter in law. The machine worked beautifully for the first week but unfortunately the bobbin is set to lie flat underneath the tray, and it pops out of place easily. I couldn't reset it as the plate is screwed in and my arthritis prevents me from manipulating the screwdriver necessary to unscrew the plate. It seems ridiculous to me that it isn't easily teachable. I want to return the machine and my daughter in law has tried to contact Singer for a week straight now via email, phone and Twitter with no luck due to Covid 19. I put the machine back in the box now that I can't use it at all. I was really looking forward to sewing masks for my loved ones and using my machine for other projects during the lockdown. I'm in Florida and my family is in New York so no one can help me fix this.
I am Not Happy the bobbin keeps popping out and the thread breaking, I am trying to make masks for my grand daughter she is an RN machine is junk Not Happy
