This model has a larger head than those I've used in the past. I feared that they were not working because I didn't hear as much noise but I looked and all the pulls and fabric balls were gone so they are much quieter. One mentioned the lack of instructions but you just lightly pass over the bad areas multiple times til the bad areas are gone. That easy. I was happy to find this. Uses 2 double AA batteries.
It works. See photos - the socks were worn evenly. After using the fabric shaver, one is restored to almost new condition. I did one test spot on the shirt and you can clearly see where I shaved it. Pleasantly surprised. Easy to clean, too. I wish Singer would make a rechargeable fabric shaver.
I used it to restore a vintage fleece Art Unlimited jacket. I used it on the inside of the fleece, which was severely pilled. It worked great! Went through 4 batteries. I could tell when I needed to empty it, as it started sounding different. To get the cover back on after emptying was a little tricky...kind of had to move it and get it seated perfect before screwing back on.
New white wash cloth got messed up in my black colors laundry . What a mess!! Knew a sticky roller would not do the job. Found on Walmart sir and saw brand Singer and decided to try. Walla it took off all lint. Thank you Walmart and Singer, you saved me sooo much time and saved three of my fave sweaters.
I've had this fabric shaver for about a year now, and I'd say it does pretty good! It does take some time for larger areas but it removed around 95% of pilling from my sheets. I mainly use it for my king size bed sheets that tend to get really bad pilling. It usually takes quite some time to go through the whole area and sometimes moving slower and stretching the fabric out so it's more flat helps but it does get the job done. I've used on clothes as well and it seems to do just as good. Overall I'd say it's worth it with a little patience!
Works pretty good. It did catch on one of my sweaters and knocked on of the shavers loose inside. It quite working after that. I took the cover off and found the issue and fixed it no problem. It hasn't happened again since but it could have been trash if I wouldn't have thought to take it apart.
I switched from a Philips model to this SINGER shaver and now I see why brand name matters. I used it for less than thirty minutes and the power has already weakened significantly. It is a total battery hog! On top of that the lint catcher is super stiff and a huge pain to remove or snap back in place which makes cleaning it really annoying. It works okay for a quick fix if you are desperate but as soon as this one dies I am definitely going back to a more reliable brand.
Kind of thick and bulky plus I was under the assumption that it was rechargeable and it's not. Doesn't really shave the pills off my clothes like I thought it was going to. I would say it probably only gets about 35% of the length and fabric off of your stuff..
Nothing good to say. Although it did work for a few minutes, the battery cover kept sliding off, and it stopped working and wouldn't turn on again. There is nothing to indicate if it is on or off. I thought maybe it had a short run time, so I waited a few minutes and tried again. Nothing. I thought maybe there was a battery problem, so I was going change the batteries, but when I picked up the shaver, it was hot and the batteries were REALLY hot. There's definitely something wrong with the shaver. I'm not going to try it again.
I was hoping the negative reviews were flukes as no item is perfect every time it's made. But this worked for exactly 3 minutes and barely got the lent off. At first, I thought it was just because it might be full after 3 minutes… even if it didn't look full to me visually. So I followed the instructions to remove what it did manage to pick up, and it still wouldn't cut back on. I used different sets of new batteries and still nothing. Then, I thought well maybe it just over heated, give it some time to cool off after working for 3 minutes straight. It's been a week and it still won't turn on. Unless you are in a pinch and you need this for one very short usage for a very small section, you will absolutely be throwing your money away. Also, the review about the battery cover is correct. It slides off as you are using it. This product couldn't have been made any worse. A 50 cent razor would be more effective at removing lint.
