Works like I was told. I have used it on a scope or as a spotting scope at night.
Excellent product. Works well. Really useful in neighborhood with lots of IR surveillance equipment (Ring etc.) on other houses near by. Its like day time out there without any advertising. Would like to see the AC dongle included instead of just the cord. Would make it more out of the box useful with the illuminator kit as well. Minor suggestion for an excellent system.
I am not experienced with nvg or thermal optics so I cannot compare this to other products. I can say that on its own the Aurora Black meets my expectation based on product description and I am happy with my purchase. I am still learning its capabilities and uses. I am looking for affordable helmit mounts and trying to use it with weapon optics and laser sights. I mostly bought it to look for predators at night.
I'm an artist/photographer with a background in optics. I love lowlight cameras/imaging. In this case I wanted: 1. Entry level digital nightvision sensor I could capture on for my work 2. Small/accessible/affordable 3. Absurdly colorful sensor noise because I like how it abstracts images 4. Something that's easy to use and yields strong results with UV/IR illuminators This does that. $400 w/ illuminator is a great value in my opinion. Sure it's lowres, so printing large pictures for galleries, etc might be tough but res boosting AI tools help. I would like to see more photocentric controls like aperture and ISO adjust so I don't have to force it into high ISO (I like that noise!) by clamping down on shutter speed. Granted this thing is largely for hunters/security and is like $300 so my expectations aren't high there, but I will do my best to evangelize this into photo community if you do your best to throw us a couple extra controls down the road.
It's great, on a night with even a little bit of moonlight i can see perfectly out to probably 300yrds. I do wish however that it was easier to find accessories, i.e. a belt pouch. Also, 1 Feature that would make it just the best thing ever: A reticle or dot function (even if it doesn't work that well, why not turn it into a scope) 2
So I got the Aurora black and it seems durable. When I first got it I wasnt too impressed with the night vision quality at first for I have this mounted on my ar 15 for the pourpus of coyote hunting. But after spending 30 bucks on a cheap IR illuminator I can see clearly at 100 yards no problem. Now I can see my target and re view my hunts. Just wish the camera mount was just a little shorter in height profile
Pretty good camera with night vision capability. I haven't tested it in the field yet, but I expect it will work fine in a relatively static role. There is a noticeable lag between the real world and the viewfinder image though so it might not be optimal to be used as a monocular at close ranges.
It works very well for what it is. 1/4 moon or more you can see alot, get darker than that and now you need an illuminator. It is easy to use, easy to set up, but I have not been able to connect to wifi yet. I don't know if it is me or the unit. I set it on wifi and it just searches. Other than that I have no complaints about this camera.
The monocular works very well as intended. During movement and water borne activities you can tell there is a little bit of drag and focus when moving and on moving objects. I was a bit disappointed that the product did not come with operating instructions and had to go to sionyx to get operating information. I think at least a quick reference manual should be included. All and all though I have been pleasantly surprised at how well the monocular has been holding up.
You pay $700 for something, you should at least get the neck strap & microfiber bag included. Instead, you have to pay for the $800 camera to get those basics. Also, not even a quick-start guide is included but the CYA notice in 24 (yes: twenty four) languages is printed & in the box. It kinda makes me wonder: if the budget is evidently so tight that these small items are purposely excluded & they want to cover themselves in 24 languages, where else were corners cut?
