STEM for Skaters

Auntie Art Teacher August 21, 2017

I recieved this product as part of an incentivised review program. I had my 7 year old niece in mind as I picked it out. She is home schooled so I am always looking for toys that fit both her interests and are educational. Lately she has been into skateboarding and not so much into school. I thought that this toy would be perfect for her. I was right! She was learning about forces, gravity, ramps, and more without even knowing it. She just thought that it was play time. The ramp building is fun and educational. With the building cards inside, it teaches kids to use the STEM design process of: ask, imagine, plan, create, improve.

Who wouldn't want to design their own skate park???

CC September 9, 2017

My 2nd grade grandson loved the idea of creating his own skate park and went right to work on engineering and designing his own creation. He worked completely on his own and was so excited about trying out his design to see if his skater come make it down his ramp. He had a little misstep, but made a design change and it worked beautifully. Great product!

Great learning toy

New type of toy for my grandson. He is just exploring building things and so I'm sure this will be a hit.

Fun Toy

Involvedmom August 31, 2017

I originally did not think my son was going to like this toy as much as he has. He just turned 4 in April so I thought that it still might be a little too old for him. Well I was wrong. The activity cards are easy to follow and he only needs help with the more advanced cards. In most cases he tells me which pieces are suppose to go where and I just help him assemble the park. He has made some really wild parks. The only thing my sons gets frustrated with is trying to put the rams on. Sometime they will slid from side to side and come off, but could be because of his age and he just does not understand that you do not have to push that hard to click the ramp to the base. Overall, it is a good interactive toy.

Would recommend and wish to extend

Jim the builder January 11, 2019

Very good product with scope for additional items (but not too many please - keep it simple!). Will want/expect to buy extra parts individually, or at least in small packs, as the interest and possibilities require it. Ideas - rectangular platform equal to two current square parts, a half part, longer beam (=length of rectangular platform) to attach to the flat surface of the square (for extra horizontal structural support).

Fun and simple toy

Nicole September 30, 2017

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I received this toy as part of an incentive program, and my 4 and 6 year olds have enjoyed having it. It is a simple toy by itself, but having 2 of the other Learning Resource engineering sets- its been a great addition to our overall building materials, and the kids have had so much fun figuring out new and interesting ways to use the various pieces. They love making ramps and slides, and this set contains several. The green ramps are a little hard to snap together for my 4 year old, but other than that, the kids have used this product independently and in many creative ways. I would recommend it for any kid that enjoys the other Engineering & Design Building sets!

Hard to move or adjust once it's put together. Everything falls, but stays attached. The guy doesn't stay on the skateboard very well. I bought 2 and the 9 year old and the 5 year old could put together easily. They loved it! I wouldn't have paid the $27 though. I was very lucky and found them for $5 a piece late one night. In my opinion it's not worth $27, but $15-$17 would be a better price.
