Skil 15 Amp 8-1/4 Inch Compact Table Saw

the Skil table saw has a lot of nicer features than my old Craftsman table saw that I had for over 20 years. The quick clutch stop on the blade, the easy-to-use stop switch, the T track to hold the accessories firmer when using, the fence with the lock and the extended adjust out for bigger lumber and all the accessories that came with it- legs or stand, the push tool, the tools to change the blade and in a holder. The only negative thing I can say about it is I wished the cord was about 6 ft longer. Certain jobs you really could use the extra length. Overall, a ten in my book.

I'm very satisfied that I chose Skil over others as it has more user friendly features. For instance, on board tool storage, and the ability too accept a dado blade. Out of the box, the blade was straight and parallel to the mitre slots, the fence accurate and the build quality great for a DYI'er like myself. If your in the market for a good reliable tablet saw, give Skil a hard look, you'll be pleasantly surprised!

Overall impressive design and quality! Cannot be beat for the cost. Minor electrical issue: Switch connector spades are lacking, they have nice detents to keep them attached to the switch, but they do not bite onto the switch pins as high temp spades do. This is a failure point. I changed these four female spades to high temp spades. Time will tell concerning the holding circuit built into the start switch. Very nice machine mechanically. Being time constrained, I did a "Rue Goldberg" on the blade angle adjustment, but this should have been incorporated, as I am very fussy about cut angle accuracy. It's not pretty, but it works. The rack and pinion fence could be more durable but is ok for now being a new machine. To get the clearance at the back of the blade, the parallel blade adjustment is all that and a bag of chips! The cast tabletop is really nice, a bit crowned but well made with thoughtful miter guide slots.

I have had several table saws in my life. This is by far the best I have ever had. It cut smooth and straight. Goes through the wood like butter. All tools store conveniently in the saw. Folded it is easy to carry. It fits on a shelve in my garage.

The fence is easy to set without measuring both to see if it's straight like other tables I've used in the past. And the extra distance on the fence is really nice to have.

This is a great saw! Highly recommend. Pro's Cuts well Great top surface and coating. Excellent fence and fence control mechanism Great push stock AND a slot to hold it. Miter guage AND A clip to hold it! The legs are great and fold nicely. Cons: The only reason I didn't give it s 5 The front had a ruler but it doesn't run from blade zero so it is for measuring overall stock length, not cut width. That, to me, is an oversight.

wish the gears for miter and raising the saw were made of metal or a more durable i.e harder material vs plastic... also very loud motor start up.. need to wear ear protection.

I expected it to be more solid than it is, lots of plastic parts. Don't use it daily so at the time the price was right. You would have to spend much more for better quality.

Table saw is good but the throat plate is flimsy and bows causing issues for me when I split a 2x4 10 inches or smaller. Everything else is good.
