Love this drill, the weight and size feels good in your hand. It is bigger than most 12v drills but I found that those can be slightly top heavy. This is a good balance. Also it's cheap, so you can justify the bigger size with the extra money you are going to save by buying this drill. The drill also receives up to 1/2 drill bits or attachments. Most 12v drills cap out at 3/8. Another plus is the integration of having an USB port on the battery pack. All the other major tool brands, the ones I'm aware of, have an extra attachment you need to buy in order to get the usb capability. Having it built right on is awesome. Also the battery packs are cheap compared to others. So not only do you save money on the tool, you also save money on the batteries. It's a win win situation when you pick up one of these drills. I'm looking into picking up the impact driver after being happy with my purchase and use of this drill.
Very nice drill, got extra battery for free. Drill seems to work great, only had a couple of weeks. For the price, its a good deal
More powerful than I thought being a 12V drill. Love the two different power settings and is small enough to fit in tight places. You can just press a button on the battery to see how much charge is left and can use the battery to charge your phone. So far very satisfied with my purchase.
It's a few weeks old but has worked wonderfully. It's much lighter, therefore it's easier to use. However, my last one (Craftman 20Vt) worked without problems for 24 years before it stopped. Hopefully I will get the same long lasting service out of this Skill product. .
ITS JUST HARD TO BELIEVE THAT A BATTERY OPERATED TOOL SUCH AS THIS CAN PERFORM SO WELL, ESPECIALLY USING A 1/2 DRILL BIT, PLUS CAN RECHARGE SO QUICKLY IF YOU NEED TO. THE CHARGED BATTERY LAST SO LONG THAT I KEEP THINKING I NEED TO RECHARGE IT, BUT ITS LIKE THE ENGINZER BUNNNY IT KEEPS GOING. THANK YOU FOR PRODUCING SUCH A EXCELLENT DRILL
My dad was a developer/builder. Unfortunately, I lost him when I was 11. One of my memories is he used nothing but Skil tools. He only used the best. Skil is a brand name I have always associated with quality. This drill lives up to its name and was an excellent value compared to other drills.
I have used SKIL for years and always liked the quality and ease of using them.they are built to withstand heavy use and can last for years.
This drill is light, strong, and the drill location light is a great help. I gave it four out of five stars because its performance with small diameter bits is lacking. The chuck doesn't hold bits less than 1/8” tightly enough, and they tend to freeze in wood or get pushed into the chuck. I've learned to have angled pliers with wide jaws within reach to thoroughly tighten the bit into place.
I have had the Skil Pwr Core drill for a couple of weeks and find that it works very well in the projects I have tried. The ability to see the charge state and quick charge capability is very useful when only having a single batter. The USB A charge capability is another very nice feature. I no longer need the Ryobi 18 volt drills that I now have because the Skil has plenty of torque for my jobs and it is much lighter than the 18 volt Ryobis. I also have a 12 volt Hitachi/Metabo drill which is also find useful but the additional features of the Skil makes it a slightly more effective tool. The only negative feature that I have noticed in the Skil is that it is somewhat louger when drilling at high speed. All in all, it is a very great tool at a price that is unmatched in the 12 volt category.
I'm still trying to figure out how to secure a drill bit or screw bit in the drill head. It seems more complicated and tedious, and slower than it should be. I still don't understand why I have to remove the battery every time I want to change a bit. Couple times after I thought I had inserted the bit properly and tightened it, it fell out when I turned the drill on. Once, I pinched my finger trying to get the battery out. Also the lights and symbols on the battery charger are confusing. I thought the green light would be on while it's charging and go off once it's fully charged. Nope. It stays on.
