I'm not sure what stopped me from ever getting a battery powered circular saw, but this certainly is incredibly versatile, the battery lasts quite a while for home use. It's lightweight and surprisingly quiet.
Easy to use, very powerful. I was i initially not sure about the blade left design, but found it to be not an issue. I am right-handed and actually found it better for blade visibility. I was able to get perfectly straight cuts on plywood using a Milescraft saw track.
If I was starting out buying new tools, I would forget all other brands and go with just Skil. Excellent quality, reasonably priced, and impressive functionality. I would like it if the cordless tools like the circular saw came with a Skil tool bag like the yellow and black competitor does. The saw has done an excellent job. The battery life is great. I like the fact that the Skil batteries are interchangeable. The marked blade depth guide is handy, albeit a little tricky to find and set it. I'm very pleased with my growing selection of Skil tools, including this one.
Very nice saw. Cuts smooth and easy. Only drawback I have found is the positioning of the safety lock on the trigger. Kind of awkward to push it and pull the trigger at same time. Cuts just as well as any corded saw that I have ever used and much better than some.
After owning a few other Skil battery powered tools i was looking forward to this one. My stepson owns the 2x20 rear handle saw and i love it. I used it to build a chicken coop for a friend and i was very impressed. I remarked about how i would love to have one in a smaller size but with the performance of this one. Two days later i watched a review on a new Skil saw that was built the same but used only one battery. I am extremely happy with this saw. Two weeks ago i rebuilt a kids play structure that was toppled over during a bad storm. After cutting around 12 or 13 pieces of 2x material i still had a full battery. The saw is easy to control, good line visibility, light weight and performs like a corded saw. It is as good as any other battery powered saw i have used, yellow and teal and someways better. I highly recommend the XP 7.25 circular saw, you will not be disappointed.
Very comfortable in my hand, not heavy and yet powerful. I bought the 20 V thinking the battery and brushless system wouldn't be very powerful, boy was I surprised! And at the ease in which it cut through a 2 x 10! It didn't even bog down. The battery charges up quickly, not that I've ever ran it clear down, but I keep it fully charged. I use it for light home repairs and projects and it is not only more than adequate, It's a pleasure to use. I especially appreciate the fact that it doesn't have that high-pitched grinding whine that you hear with most of the regular electric circular saws I used in my construction days.
I purchased this saw for one intended purpose, to be anchored to a Skate plate to cut plywood . It does ok in 3/8 to 1/2" plywood/OSB, but is has issues with 5/8-3/4" material. I thought it would be more stout or powerful. It is a lot lighter than a M18 Milwaukee saw of comparable size, but lacks the muscle to get the job done in one pass. I will keep the saw but may have to look for a saw with more power that does not involve shelling out +200.00 for a dedicated saw.
Good power and surprisingly long run time . Would give it 5 stars except I find it a little awkward to hold because of the batterie position .The tracks are ok but don't compair to more expensive ones . I would recommend this saw . For the price its a great value .
The saw works much better than the wired saw it replaced. 4ah battery was DOA. Skil sent out another but it was a 2ah battery. Called back and they said they would fix the mistake. Nothing happened and it's impossible to get them on the phone and they haven't called back on the option to leave a message.
It doesn't have the power that I need it for. And it doesn't have a laser like most saws have. I have more higher hopes for SKIL saws they are not like they used to be.
