If you never try one. Please do. It's the best drill out there. I can say that in our shop we have try them all and these skil drill by far out work them all.
The drill is very well-made, very balanced and charges quickly.
I'm a 65 year-old grandma having problems with arthritis, plus my upper body strength is non-existent. I got this power drill with a cleaning brush set so I could clean my bathtub (the cleaning brushes has an extending "wand) and oven, etc. to my satisfaction without killing myself. This drill powers up those brushes and scouring pads and leaves everything like-new clean! Never thought a power drill would occupy a place of importance with my cleaning supplies, but my little SKIL drill is now a must-have. I love it!
I wasn't expecting a whole lot from this drill/driver but it hangs with the big boys. It has plenty of power and it much smaller than the other brands. I like the size/power ratio and it will become my go to for many tasks. For reference, I have other drill/drivers in the Ryobi, Dewalt, and Bosch lines. Great drill and even better for the money.
Haven't had to long but love it so far. Lite weight but a ton of power. I used it for quite while and battery was still at 100%. I totally recommend it.
Well built drill - you can feel the quality when you pick it up. Does the job well. Battery holds charge for a long time. I am very pleased with this purchase
I bought this to upgrade to a 1/2" chuck from my Model 2867 Skil 3/8" chuck cordless drill which uses a Nimh battery. This one uses a Lithium battery which lasts longer and stays charged while idle much longer. So far I've found it to be an excellent choice for the price. It works well, has good torque and although I wasn't impressed with the fact it had a light, I've found it to be really handy. My only reason for a 4 star review is that I can't find a hard case for this drill anywhere. I have one for the older drill and it makes storing and transporting the unit convenient. Otherwise this drill is 5 star.
Noticed the chuck key doesn't tighten like it should. Was using a metal grinding stone and it fell out twice. It has so much power that it spun so much my hand got hot. Will have to adjust the number I'm using to see if that doesn't happen again. Maybe a learning curve.
Great tool wish battery was priced to high also hard to locate
Only problem is after making the bit tight and drilling briefly it loosens up so the bit stops turning. Had the same problem with my first Skill. That one stopped charging. Replaced the battery but it still failed to hold a charge.
