Really good stuff! I moved from Louisville, where I would go the mid-city mall Skylinie restaurant. There's nothing in Maryland that I know of. But wow! Walmart carries the cans. And, it's the same tasty, seemingly watery chili we all love from Louisville. You need to get your own cheese, grate your own onions, cook your own spaghetti (I recommend %238) and find some chili beans you like to have it as many ways as you like. Be creative. My grandsons loved it. They want more. I just bought 12 more cans.
This is a crowd pleaser with the family! We love skyline and miss our local restaurant. This is the next best thing. This is NOT meant to just be eaten as chili. It's often used on coney dogs and we like the 3 way deal with the thin spaghetti and some shredded mild cheddar cheese. It has a bit of a cinnamon /nutmeg taste so it's not something everyone would enjoy but once you get the taste for it, you're gone!
will buy again
I grew up eating skyline chili speghetti having been raised in Ohio. Now living on the east coast where people eat Italian style spaghetti. So finding my favorite sauce is like a taste of home. if you're not familiar it's a greek style of sauce with a little kick to it. try before you judge it. just remember greek style we use cheddar not paramesan
We are from Cincinnati Ohio and grew up eating this. We live in Florida now and missed our Skyline. We were very pleased that we are able to purchase it in cans. While it's not like going there and eating it fresh, but it's so wonderful having it at all! We eat it over spaghetti with onions and/or beans (both optional) and shredded cheddar cheese. We also make coneys with it. It is an acquired taste as it is very unique.
I was a bit skeptical when it came flowing out of the can very fluidly…so if you're wanting a thicker chili this is not for you unless you want to add a thickening agent. Next, it has a lot of cumin and something else that puts it more on the sweeter side kind of giving it a more Caribbean/Jerk kind of flavor to me. So luckily I had some Rally's frozen sweet potato fries and shredded some Tillamook white extra sharp cheese, and a bit of sour cream and it was perfect. I would not use it on hot dogs or regular french fries, but it may be someone else's taste. I'm on the fence if I'd purchase it again. Sorry, I didn't think to get a pic of the first bowl I made 😅.
I'm sure the chili will be good, but the cans arrived super dented. Very disappointed in that. Not sure if it was before or during shipping, as they appeared to be packaged well. But if before, I can't believe someone would deem those acceptable to ship out.
what is this? i can't believe people in ohio hipe this place up. it's a disgusting, worst tasting chili product i ever had. i cant even say what it looks like. it taste so bad im throwing the rest out. way to expensive for water and disgusting taste. DO NOT BUY
THEY HAVE CHANGED THE FORMULA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have purchased this for years!!! It's my go to quick dinner since my wife passed. Always loved it. I bought my usual 8 cans to put in my pantry. Basically $50.00. NOT ONE CAN WAS EDIBLE. NO MEAT...NONE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I opened the can and it was brown smelly water with globs of grease floating on the top. I poured it into the bowl to heat it. Nothing in the brown water except globs of grease. I heated it and tried to eat it but the brown oil slick was AWFUL. I poured it into a trash bag and opened another. Went through all 8 cans. They were all the same. I then went to a major food store in town and bought some more. 8 more cans. 4 cans were like normal, the others were brown water with globs of grease. One can had "some" meat in it. Maybe 10% of normal. Trashed 4 cans from that. I'll wait a year or two and maybe try again. Hopefully it's a mistake, but watch out.
We have been buying skyline chili for a couple years now. We have never been disappointed until lately when their entire formula HAS CHANGED. It used to be like ordinary chili but now it is a soupy, oily MESS that you pay $5 FOR ONE CAN?!? We will never buy this again. The first pic is the product we recently bought and the 2nd pic is the old formula where it is all one color and not watered down!
