I have never owned one of these Tire Depth Gauges before now personally, although I have seen mechanics and tire store employees use them several times over the years. It seems to be well made and packaged securely. I think it is a Handy object to keep in my glove-box along with my Tire Pressure gauge. The two of them take up probably no more room than a couple of pencils and one can place them and easily forget about them until needed. I am a little old school when it comes to this particular measurement. What I have done in the past that my Dad taught me with my first car was to take a penny and lower it down into the tread with Lincoln's head upside down. If the tread reached the Top of his head or farther then your tread depth was just fine. This is obviously more scientific and accurate than the method I was raised on though. As far as tool products go, it is light, small; and inexpensive to acquire. It is also something that can help one drive safely and be able to judge for oneself if someone tells you that you need new tires which as we all know is Not inexpensive.

Forget the penny or quarter trick...this gives you an accurate measurement of your tire tread..and the yellow warning and danger red zone...worth it.

No more opinions about when to replace tires. The gauge is easy to read. The gauge is subdivided into green(tread is good) Yellow (will need to replace soon) Red( tires need replaced). Very easy to use. Youtube has plenty of videos to help use the device properly.

This is what I tried to buy, not what I received. I did look closely and accepted the swap to a tire pressure gauge. This has a completely different function and should not be suggested as an alternative.

My overall satisfaction is one star because the product was delayed and has not arrived. Price was okay, provided I received the product, but at this point I have not received it.
