This aquarium thermometer is excellent! it has a magnet which you place on the outside of your aquarium while the thermometer itself is placed inside and held in place with the magnet on the outside. The thermometer is also incased inside plastic material, so the whole setup is safe. This is much better than a suction cup inside the tank which most times falls and then the unprotected thermometer breaks when it falls getting mercury inside the aquarium. I would highly recommend this product!
After growing so tired of the cheap-o tube thermometers with rubber-like (silicone?) suction cups--that over time degrade, stiffen, and no longer suction in place and therefore float all around the tank--I was so glad to find these awesome thermometers for my aquariums. I liked to first two so much, that I ordered two more. I found they were much more accurate than aforementioned cheap-o ones, and I love that the outside magnet holds the thermometer firmly in place. I also love that the thermometer itself has a slim profile and lays nearly flat against the inside glass. The only downside is that the thermometer length is unnecessarily large; below the "ideal range" are so many wasted temperate readings, which are inappropriately low for home aquarium use anyway! It seems they could have eliminated several of them and it would still be adequate, especially for shorter height tanks. The item arrived a bit earlier than expected, so that was nice.
Like that it is easy to read and stays in one place. Seems accurate.
I have these in all of my aquariums, nuff' said!
Love this thermometer. It stays where it needs to end has shaded area Fort where the temperature needs to be.
The magnet method is perfect and much better than the suction cups that just don't seem to work.
Finally someone had a clue in design. No more hanging over the side or annoying suction cups. I have this for months, no issue fall off, even when bumped and is quite accurate.
One of the two JW Fusion Smart Temp aquarium thermometers that was ordered through the Walmart Marketplace consistently produces readings which are too low by -2.4 degrees Centigrade or -4.32 degrees Farenheit. The customer attempted to contact the seller, but they did not respond. The seller should accept the return of this defective unit for a refund of the purchase price. These results were obtained by ambient and heated water temperature measurements made with a laboratory grade thermometer, comparison readings using the second JW Fusion Smart Temp aquarium thermometer received in this order, and several electronics sensors which provide readings traceable to NIST calibrated standards. The severity the accuracy problem with the first unit received clearly show it is defective according to the production description: "The smart temp also offers a green safe zone which indicates the optimal temperature range. A high-end accuracy- ( /-) 1.5-degree f and the smart temp has large easy to read numbers." The second aquarium thermometer unit meets the stated limit by providing readings which are too low by only -0.75 degrees C or -1.34 degrees Farenheit. Therefore it meets the accuracy limit and is acceptable for aquarium use.
They work really well , but our if two orders, totaling Seven thermostats one was broke!!! Bottom of thermostat was chipped so mercury doesn't rise at all ! I'd like a replacement sent!
Nice concept with the magnet to hold it in place. I put it in my aquarium for 10 minutes and it stayed at the same temperature it was when I put it in to check water temperature...68 degrees. I know my aquarium is around 80 degrees with where the heater is set at, so it doesn't work. To prove that, I used my instant read thermometer and it read 80 degrees. I hooked up an old digital thermometer with probe for aquarium use and it read 79.2 degrees. Both of these temperature readings I would believe. Also, the line of mercury that you read the temperature with on this unit is too faint and small to view easily. I would look elsewhere for a reliable and working thermometer, this isn't it.
