Really Nice

Dave August 13, 2024

I bought this controller so that I can play old Nintendo games on my computer. Is it cheating to play a computer emulator? Perhaps, but that's irrelevant. So how's this controller? Great! I've had it for about a month. I've had two other controllers before from other brands. They're all the same, so that's good. This controller was under $10.00, too, so you can't beat the price.

I liked everything about these controllers. The cable is longer than the usual SNES controllers.

Review: Old Skool SNES USB Controller

Matt April 16, 2026

**Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)** I've spent quite a bit of time testing out the **Old Skool SNES USB Controller**, and overall, it's a solid piece of hardware for anyone looking to scratch that 16-bit itch on modern platforms. %23%23%23 The Good Right out of the box, the build quality is impressive. The controller **feels great** in the hands, mimicking the weight and ergonomics of the original hardware quite well. The **joypad is really good**, offering responsive and tactile movement that is essential for precision platformers or fighting games. Across the board, **all of the buttons work great** with no noticeable input lag or ghosting. %23%23%23 The "Off" Factor The only reason I'm giving this four instead of five stars comes down to a specific design choice: the **Y and X buttons are convex instead of concave**. For most, this might be a minor detail, but for those of us with **muscle memory dating back to 1992**, it just feels "wrong" under the thumb. The original North American SNES design used that concave dip to help your fingers find their home, and the change here is definitely noticeable during long sessions. Additionally, the **L and R shoulder buttons feel just a tad off**. They aren't unresponsive, but the click and travel don't perfectly mirror the "mushy-yet-firm" feel of the 90s originals. %23%23%23 Final Verdict If you aren't a purist about button curvature, this is easily a five-star budget controller. But if you grew up with a Super Nintendo in the early 90s, the button texture might take some getting used to. Still, for the price and performance, it's a fantastic way to play the classics.

The color of the controller is alright, and the USB hooked up to my computer just fine. However, it took no more than an hour of casual play for the controller's DPad Up button to stop working. That meant the controller was effectively worthless considering the DPad is important for moving in game and navigating menus. Maybe alright if you just want to display a controller, but this product is worthless for actual gaming.

It was short lived

anonymous May 28, 2025

I've bought others in the past but those lasted a year or longer with extended use. The one I bought most recently didnt last a week. The directional pad buttons got harder and harder to push. After two days, the down and right directions locked up and wouldn't work at all. Could have been a one-off, but I wasn't happy with the results.

Jordan June 24, 2020

product arrived in a timely fashion yet both controls were non functioning out of the box. wrote numerous emails for replacement and was redirected and then forgotten by two different departments. One month later, I have given up and now will advise others not to buy from this company.
